Job Purpose

The General Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting accounts receivable and payable activities, and assisting with monthly and annual financial reporting. The role requires ensuring that all accounting activities are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and ledgers.
• Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and follow up on outstanding customer balances and overdue payments.
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and ensure supplier invoices are properly verified and recorded.
• Prepare and maintain customer and supplier statements of accounts.
• Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, supplier accounts, and general ledger balances.
• Prepare payment requests, payment vouchers, receipts, and other accounting documents.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, schedules, and management reports.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and provide regular updates to management.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain proper supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
• Assist with VAT calculations, reconciliations, and VAT return preparation in coordination with the Finance Manager.
• Ensure proper filing and maintenance of invoices, receipts, payment documents, and other financial records.
• Assist with audits by providing required documents, schedules, and explanations.
• Verify invoices and supporting documents before processing payments.
• Monitor company expenses and ensure they are properly recorded and supported.
• Assist in preparing cash flow and other financial information when required.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and applicable UAE regulations.
• Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as MBA, M.COM
• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• UAE accounting experience is preferred.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
