Job Summary
The Insurance Coordinator will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, processing claims, following up on outstanding payments, and ensuring compliance with insurance policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in dental insurance administration, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to appointments.
- Explain insurance benefits, treatment estimates, and patient financial responsibilities.
- Prepare, submit, and track dental insurance claims accurately and promptly.
- Follow up on unpaid, delayed, denied, or partially paid claims.
- Resolve claim discrepancies and communicate with insurance providers regarding claim status.
- Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately in the practice management system.
- Maintain accurate patient insurance records and documentation.
- Coordinate with dentists and clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for claims.
- Monitor insurance aging reports and work to reduce outstanding receivables.
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, payer requirements, and clinic policies.
- Assist patients with insurance-related questions and payment arrangements.
- Generate reports related to insurance claims, collections, and accounts receivable as requested.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dental insurance coordination, dental billing, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, claim submission processes, and insurance terminology.
- Experience with dental practice management software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- Experience working with multiple insurance providers and direct billing systems.
- Knowledge of coding procedures and dental treatment documentation.
- Experience in accounts receivable and collections management.
