Boat Captain – Medium-Sized Vessel

Short Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Boat Captain to safely operate and manage a medium-sized vessel. The successful candidate will be responsible for navigation, crew supervision, passenger safety, vessel maintenance oversight, and ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and navigate the vessel in accordance with maritime laws and regulations.
• Plan voyages, routes, weather assessments, and operational schedules.
• Ensure the safety of passengers, crew members, and the vessel at all times.
• Conduct pre-departure and post-voyage inspections.
• Monitor vessel systems, engines, navigation equipment, and safety equipment.
• Maintain accurate logs, voyage records, fuel consumption reports, and operational documentation.
• Coordinate fueling operations and monitor fuel efficiency.
• Supervise and manage crew members, assigning duties and ensuring proper performance.
• Ensure compliance with local maritime authorities, port regulations, and company procedures.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and implement safety protocols when required.
• Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections with the technical team.
• Assist with yacht and vessel delivery operations when required.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional conduct with clients and guests.

Requirements

• Valid Captain's License or Master Mariner certification appropriate for the vessel size and operational area.
• Proven experience operating medium-sized boats, yachts, or commercial vessels.
• Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship, vessel operations, and maritime safety procedures.
• Experience with GPS, radar, chart plotters, VHF communications, and other marine navigation systems.
• Knowledge of marine engine systems and basic troubleshooting.
• Valid STCW certification and other required maritime qualifications.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays when required.
• Good English communication skills.
• Clean professional record and commitment to safety.
