Job Description – Bar Hostess

Mercure Hotel Suites & Apartments – Barsha Heights, Dubai

Position: Bar Hostess
Department: Food & Beverage
Location: Barsha Heights, Dubai, UAE
Reports To: Bar Supervisor/Bar Manager / Outlet Manager

Job Purpose

The Bar Hostess is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests, managing guest seating and reservations, and providing attentive and professional service throughout their visit. The role requires excellent communication, a pleasant personality, strong customer-service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy bar environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Manage guest seating arrangements in coordination with the bar and service team.
  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus or relevant information about the outlet.
  • Handle guest reservations, enquiries, and seating requests efficiently.
  • Maintain an updated seating plan and coordinate table availability with the service team.
  • Monitor guest flow and assist in managing waiting lists during busy periods.
  • Ensure that the bar entrance, hostess station, and guest areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming appearance at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with waiters, bartenders, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist guests with general enquiries regarding the menu, promotions, operating hours, and outlet facilities.
  • Respond to guest requests promptly and professionally and escalate complaints or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Support the team during busy periods as required, while maintaining high standards of guest service.
  • Follow all hotel policies, service standards, health and safety procedures, and responsible-service-of-alcohol requirements applicable to the outlet.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the management.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Hostess, Bar Hostess, Restaurant Hostess, Receptionist, or similar guest-facing role, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, lounge, or bar environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Pleasant, confident, and professional personality.
  • Strong guest-service and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good knowledge of English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Well-groomed and professionally presented.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Previous hospitality experience in the UAE or GCC is an advantage.
