Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, including restaurants, hotels, catering units, food manufacturers, and retail outlets.
• Ensure compliance with food safety laws, regulations, and hygiene standards.
• Inspect food preparation, storage, handling, transportation, and disposal practices.
• Collect food and water samples for laboratory analysis.
• Investigate food safety complaints, foodborne illness outbreaks, and contamination incidents.
• Prepare inspection reports and document violations.
• Issue notices, warnings, or enforcement actions where required.
• Verify implementation of food safety management systems such as HACCP.
• Review sanitation, pest control, temperature monitoring, and cleaning procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to food handlers on safe food handling practices.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Stay updated on changes in food safety legislation and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
• Food safety certification (such as HACCP, ISO 22000, or other recognized certifications) is often preferred.
• Knowledge of national and local food safety regulations.
• Previous experience in food inspection, quality assurance, or food safety is an advantage.
