Excellent Work Environment

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Well-compensated relative to similar jobs in area. Collaborative work environment with excellent coworkers. Quickly paced due to common staff shortages; but this is made up for by the quality of existing staff.

Good work, always busy

The culture at WF is easy to work for, people treat each other well. As long as your attendance is good and you complete your tasks in an efficient way, you'll do well there. Whether you're looking for a part-time gig or want to build a career within the grocery business, WF is a good place to be.

Pros

Good discounts and benefits for employees, friendly team member culture, low drama

Cons

It's hard to take your breaks, as there's always more work to be done.

fun environment

The people are great. Work is manageable. Learning / learned a lot about the job. Hardest part is customers being rude. I enjoy my coworkers and working with them

Pros

Co workers

Cons

Great opportunities

The management team at Whole Foods deserves accolades. They were not only professional but also incredibly supportive. Their guidance and open communication made me feel valued as an employee and contributed significantly to my job satisfaction. The work environment at Whole Foods is both stimulating and collaborative. The company's commitment to sustainability and high-quality products resonated with me, and I felt proud to be a part of a team that shared these values..

Physically demanding

As long as you're ok lifting 60lb boxes for 10+ hours a day it's fun. Schedule is 10 hrs a day but most of the time it goes to 12, just depends on how fast the selectors work

Great, when you're doing YOUR job.

A great job with decent pay when you're expected to complete your own work and not everyone elses along with your own! Chronically understaffed and mismanaged. An ever changing and honesty unpredictable environment, but very fun and creatively challenging.

decent

decent place to work but with low pay. The job wasn't demanding but there is still room for improvement. Also it is hard to get benefits because they rarely hire for full time.

Challenging role, Great People

Whole Foods is a great company to work for in the food industry. There is a lot of opportunity for growth, but leadership roles are challenging and can be difficult depending on experience.

Cashier Experience

Hardest part of the job is standing long hours and the physicality of the work. Most enjoyable part of the job is chatting with guests and talking about food.

Busy store with a lot of online orders to fulfill

Overall the job is okay, it could be so much better with the right management in place for the e-commerce dept. As an in store shopper you definitely stay busy. When there is a break in order volume then you're expected to help stock shelves, assist cashiers, basically do other stuff in the store until orders start dropping again.

Not Bad

Not a bad place to work, depending on how understaffed your department is. You will also be at the mercy of whoever your most recent team lead hire is.

Not as good as it looks on paper.

Read the title. There is little good about working for Whole Foods Market. They claim they pay for experience, which couldn't be farther from the truth. Every new employee that's hired starts at base wage. Managers hire their friends, give them easy shifts and promote those who are way underqualified.

Pros

Decent PTO accrual. 20% off all products at any location.

Cons

Healthcare coverage is a complete sham. Way too expensive for the little coverage you recieve.

Good

Hope it is a wonderful place to work. If you think I taken on a career in a grocery store, why not pick one with food that you eat too. Most everybody seems pretty happy. If there are happy, it’s the one place where you can record your supervisor if they’re telling something crazy.

Feel good about going to work!

You get the feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself. A positive culture and the sky is the limit for advancement if you are dependable and work hard. I worked at three different locations due to moves, and transferring was easy each time and the environment and culture was consistent throughout.

Pros

Culture, team environment, advancement

Cons

Healthcare and 401k

Downgrade since Amazon

Too much work and not enough team members. Team members have tried to give conducive feedback but it seems to make no difference whatsoever. Micromanaging!

It was better before Amazon owned it.

Pre Amazon it wasn’t the worst, but it’s gone down hill ever since. They used to make a good amount of products in house and by the time I left there was only 1 item still being made in house.

It's an ok work place

Go in at 4 work grocery till 2 every day except Sunday. You lucky if you have help. Doesn't pay that well for the work you do. Don't take your opinion on anything. Management is neverending on you a bout productivity.

Pros

Poor management and lack of benefits and benefits to make you want to stay

Let's start with the good. You get a raise every year from the date of your hire (going no further 75 cents to a dollar). That aside, the pay is lacking. This is not the job you want of you have real expenses. On top of this you get the worst insurance possible and receive no real benefits Outside a discount. You'll also be unappreciated and deal with some of the worst management. As time goes on they've gotten stricter about attendance to the point where they recently introduced an attendance balance (UPT). This balance starts off at 32hr and if you're absent or late for your shift, time is taken from this balance and if it reaches zero, you're fired. This is ridiculous from a company that provides next to nothing for its employees in terms of pay, benefits, and ridiculous scheduling. Management is also very poor with the few good workers doing most of the work while the bad eggs seem to get away doing nothing and even get promoted. This is not the career you'd like.
