Poor training and stressful micro managing

The training for customer service specialists is not even remotely adequate , you are placed onto the phone lines and are micro managed on a daily, continual basis. This entry level call center position pays more than most but your responsibilities are way beyond a basic call center job. You are dealing with clients' financial portfolios, calls from law enforcement re: financial fraud, etc. It is alot of responsibility -most of which you do not have the training to do- and shouldn'tbe asked to do, long hold times (40min.+)if you need to transfer and a daily onslaught of disgruntled clients...NOT worth the $$ or the stress.

Great job, don’t go through the temp agency to get hired

The job overall I truly enjoyed. Being hired in through Randstad was difficult because the retention is so incredibly low (a class out of more than 20 people, only 4 of us stayed). So the conversion date kept getting pushed. But our PTO days stayed the same, which didn’t properly reflect our time there. If conversion happened when they say it would and didn’t continue to be pushed then I would rate the job more. I think a lot of people don’t end up staying because training doesn’t properly prepare you, and once you’re on the phones it’s like you’re thrown to the wild. I know they were working on that as I left though so hopefully they improved.

Alright place to work

The company has a bonus program that holds you through tax season to get a bonus for the previous year. Not very good pay compared to competitors. 401k is alright.

Good place to work for

Good place to work and learn. Benefits are great. PTO is great. Great work life balance. Just the base salary is low than industry but benefits would cover the most.

Inhumane treatment

They treat wild animals better than they do their employees. High staff turnover rate. Low pay range. No opportunity to move up unless you are in the bureaucracy.

Great place to work

Its a great place to work. I had a great manager who was patient and helped me get settled in. A lot of room for advancement and has a family feel to the place.

Poor salary for the workload, great environment and people

It is unfortunate they do not hire enough people and you get burnout. The workload is too heavy. It's like working in a busy restaurant, where you don't have chance to use the bathroom.

It's a great company, just be ready for lots of updates and changes to resource. Always read your emails, and learn how to lead huddles.ibwould recommended if you're interested in getting licensed

Overworked, Underpaid, Poor Work Life Balance Poor Management

Overworked/Underpaid Turning what used to be a great place to work into a call center while you are doing multiple people’s jobs as Vanguard cannot keep employees. Micromanagement Difficult to take time off as your work is still waiting for you when you get back that management encourages you to work on your days off. Some employees are held to impossible standards while other skate by without any repercussions. Management is too far removed from daily work tasks that they have no clue what client facing advisors experience on a day to day basis nor do they understand what clients want or value.

if you deal well with high pressure you can have an amazing carrier

high pressure call center. training is kind of short. Could be longer to give you more time to learn more topics before being on your own. If you don't mind high pressure, you can have a great carrier because they have amazing benefits!

Boring and stressful

Meetings all day every day, senior team members are biased for each other, unorganized onboarding materials, worked on tasks that was interesting at first but the work is on the same thing all the time and gets extremely boring and frustrating as it seems the "improvements" are really just a headache for the customers and makes no practical sense. Great benefits.

Great for what it is

This is a great job for a starter. It'll take almost two years to get out of the entry level postion, but they will give you licenses and plenty of support. Salary is below industry average but the work is easy and benefits are great

Used to be a great place

It used to be a great place. They took. Are of you and offered support and direction. Then it changed. It became all about analytics and lean. The culture changed and much of senior level associates noticed and left

Culture Changed

When the new CEO got the job, the entire culture changed. It felt like the people were dehumanized. It was about data, stats, numbers etc. And not their people and their customer which is what made Vanguard great.

Odd culture

I’ve worked at Vangaurd for a decade. The culture has definitely changed as a result of leadership changes. It used to be family oriented with a work life balance. It’s no longer like that.

glorified call center

If you’re hired on phones expect nothing but phone call after phone call back to back everyday. you don’t even get a moment to breathe before one call end and the next one is auto answered.

Ok place to start a career . Lot of training and nice people. Constant technology problems. Demanding phone schedule. Salary is not competitive. Micromanagement of employees

Good work like balance

Generous PTO and benefits package. Good team members depending on where you land. Good name on the resume. Drawbacks are back to office after pandemic.

Was fun until it wasn’t

Was fun until it wasn’t . Everything changed for the worse after 2008. All management did was reinvent the wheel every few years under a new initiative. No flexibility
