Good employees, bad management

You’re just a number working there. Management doesn’t care about the employees, the safety supervisor I had was a two faced rat and a snake. This job is only a stepping stone, definitely great experience if you want to be a plant Operator. But trash management techniques

Poor Management

High turnover rate due to management not valuing their employees. If you are looking for a job to advance in this is not for you. Go somewhere where management understands productivity comes from the standard their employees are held.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Low Pay, Disrespectful Management, Hours

Was good at first

The company preaches culture and turns around and acts like other bad companies. If someone dislikes you or you have a little situation, you are labeled a problem and they will get rid of you even if the problem is another person but they like them. Company policy also only pertains to certain individuals to the point it’s sickening. You are stroked to the point you think you are doing well in the mean time they plot and plan on your demise.

Pros

Good pay and benefits

Cons

Everything else

Easy day in day out job.

If you work as a switchman you’re lucky, switching supervisor and safety & training supervisor are great at their jobs and treat everyone fair and with respect. No pressure atmosphere from supervisor and will have your back. Crude supervisors are sub par and do not treat everyone the same or with respect. Refine supervisor is great also.

Pros

Laid back work environment.

Cons

Once you make lead it’s kind of dead end.

A lot of work not enough pay for work performance

Poor pay don’t get yearly raises when you are suppose too treat new hire better then the worker that’s been there the longest ….a lot of hard work with a lot of safety procedures with a lot of dangerous work ….

All work and no pay make Jack a dull boy.

Good job, easy, doesn’t pay much per hour but you are always working so it evens out. Supervision are all buddies so don’t expect to move too far unless you join the group. Low pay cap and low start pay with low promotion rate unless you are a cool kid.

Worst location, stay away.

Working in the refine department is fine, but the heavy crude department is absolutely terrible. You are forced to work mandatory overtime in offloading heavy crude rail cars. The supervisors in the heavy crude department do not have leadership skills, and will send people home for not being comfortable with performing tasks that they have no formal training in. You will face disciplinary actions if you do not show up on holidays such as Christmas for mandatory overtime. They would make you work 16 hour days, every day for months on end if they could with no concern for your rest. The pay is terrible. You get a whole dollar raise once you pass your panel review, and that is your top out rate. No yearly raises, nothing. It is recommend that you only try to work here if you are desperate to make money for bills, but if you are needing industrial experience then look elsewhere.

Extremely high turnover rate

Management runs people into the ground to the point that most people quit. Workers overworked, hardly any time off, and if you do get time off, be prepared to get called in because teams are running as skeleton crews

Rapidly growing family company that rewards hard work.

PSC has been a great place to work! You can grow with the organization if you are willing to work hard and do the right thing. Leaders work hard to support the men and women in the field.

Cons

Poor management

If you aren’t part of the tight knit group around here there is no moving up at this location. If you try to transfer they will just put a target on your back and try to fire you for anything seen it several times has yet to happen to me but I see it coming soon. The only way to transfer is to quit and leave this location wait 6 months and apply again at another location. Poor pay. Took 7 years to get a 4% raise. “Inflation”

Great environment to work in.

Great coworkers, leaders and environment. Just wish the pay was slightly higher. It’s a great company to grow within. Promotions and slight pay raises come pretty quick.

You are just a hand

No advancement opportunities. If contract ends they will lay you off if there is no openings. Supervisor was never around. Training is horrible. Only perk is decent pay.

Pros

None

Cons

Bad place to work they aren't family oriented like they say.

Decent company

Good company everybody I dealt with has been good to me. Some of the rules are goofy but that comes from the barge owners that pressure policies. There is no escaping that

Pros

Decent money

Cons

Being on call

Great experience horrible management

Great experience in the field and in the terminals, but pay and management is horrible. If you ever work here ensure that you find out when contract ends at location and don’t take anyone’s word in regards to “ability to transfer and raises will happen regularly”

At Dow location.

Fun diverse environment. Can get political. Second class to Dow Employees. Major schedule inconsistencies. Tell you one thing in interview then something different once job starts.

New to repair but this company has issues

The management or supervision is inexperienced. Loaders should not be supervising repairmen. A new start up like this should have some experience for support. I rather go back to the railroad.

Productive workplace

Starting pay is decent Work will always be there and you will always get your weekly hours in. 40+ hours for sure. They give you time to train and learn the job before getting you certified. You get pulled for random drug tests There’s no telling when they will pick you to give them a hair sample. Be on time when showing up to your shift to avoid being written up.
