Culture is on decline
Assistant Human Resource Manager/ Assistant Operations Manager (Former Employee) - Houston, TX 77015 - August 9, 2022
Never satisfied with work keep cutting hours and expecting more productivity. Very negative feedback with visits from office. Always expecting you to put in extra time no weekends or holidays off except Christmas. No work life balance. Looked down upon if you take your lunch.
Pros
Decent pay and benefits.
Cons
Long hours anywhere from 6am-1am

Unorganized, unprofessional
Clerk (Former Employee) - Conway, AR - August 9, 2022
Very demanding, unprofessional environment. Management is toxic and overbearing, leadership is minimal while they dictate you and belittle you for not performing to their superhuman standards.

Fun
Clicklist Associate (Current Employee) - Louisville, KY - August 8, 2022
Easy and fun, pay stinks. Like the early morning hours much better. Store is less crowded. I enjoy picking the groceries more than loading. Especially in the rain

Not as good as it should be
Assistant Produce Manager (Current Employee) - Chesterfield, VA - August 8, 2022
Was promised over 16.50 an hour which never came to be even after 2 years of service. Management is into gossip and favoritism. Resigned position due to not keeping their word on pay.

Bad management
Store Clerk (Current Employee) - Lawrenceburg, TN - August 8, 2022
The department leads at this store have really bad attitude problems. Not all of them, but enough of them to make this job not worth it. The job itself isn't bad at all, it is really just the fact that there is a lot of trash talking about employees behind their backs all the time by the department leads. I understand that employees can mess up and be annoying sometimes but talking to them one on one should be the solution. Not talking about them to other employees.

Although pay/benefits are very good , the safety in warehouse and driving is subpar
Costumer Service Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Jacksonville, FL - August 8, 2022
A typical day is get there clock in get equipment attend huddle then get to van/truck perform pre-trip and head off to complete anywhere from a couple hundred to almost a ton of groceries (ambient/ and frozen) driving approx 50 to 150 miles per day in FL and Some parts of GA. Get back sometimes late and often early, which you can clock out early or "kill time" then clock out to ensure you get your 8 hrs (as promised) often people volunteer or get asked to do another shift (get great over-time) but the $ get in the way of being safe, should be more monitored like CDL Drivers regulated by DOT. Some management is ok, but no one is a great leader!!!! When you have a question, concern they sweep it under-the-rug alot. Hardest job is lack of support, safety issues and being asked to drive down roads that require 4 Wheel drive etc, then when something happens, they are 'surprised" The best, the customers, and getting to see this beautiful area, and so many places and people you'd never see/meet otherwise
Pros
Good pay and benefits and multiple shifts
Cons
Dont care enough about safet, even though thats all they TALK about

Pick up
pick up (Former Employee) - Midland, MI - August 8, 2022
Working in pick up is full of drama. There is no real management they like to use people. The heads of the store will yell at you for the littlest things make you work all over the store. The coworkers will talk behind your backs. You are timed and even if the store does not have the products in it still is counted aganst you no matter what.
Pros
You know where everything is
Cons
Every thing else

Not worth the time and effort for so little pay and little benefits and the least amount of respect
Kroger Associate (Current Employee) - Denton, TX - August 8, 2022
been with the company 10 years no respect from mgmt. no meaningful pay raises union is ineffective no opportunities to move up unless your a favorite mgmt. have no qualms of stepping on the shoulders of those under them to move up worked the same shift same hours for years with not advancement the stockers over night are under payed and not even cared for they do the most out of the store to keep it running and is currently short handed and refuse to meet requests by mgmt. for more workers and better pay / benefits the union is also ineffective at my location

Okay place to work
Produce Associate (Former Employee) - Memphis, TN - August 8, 2022
It was okay during training. After training everything started to change. Workers quit, team members in my area were no help most times. Didn't know how to place orders, didn't like pulling trash, expected the new person to handle entire area alone.

Good Starter Job
Cashier (Current Employee) - Spring, TX - August 8, 2022
If you like working with and around people, this is a good job for you. Management can be particular about certain things, but they’re also willing to help when necessary. Biggest drawback is low pay. It’s better suited for teenagers earning spending money rather than something to make a living off of.

Kroger is a great first job with good pay and benefits. Scheduling is flexible and work days are structured. I work with people of all religions, races, gender, and cultures. Inclusive and enjoyable place to work.

Overall decent work place
Courtesy Clerk/Bagger (Former Employee) - Irving, TX - August 7, 2022
The Kroger I worked at was a huge place, but it was very understaffed. I had to work hours outside even though it was not part of the job description.
Pros
Great coworkers, decent management
Cons
Pushing carts outside in 100 degree weather and being understaffed.

Room to Grow but must be willing to sell your soul
Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee) - Ann Arbor, MI - August 6, 2022
At Kroger you are expected, despite your challenges, to meet, maintain and exceed your goals and metrics. You are expected to work more than the scheduled 50 hours on a regular basis as well as not compensated fairly. Because Kroger does not “require” a degree they pay less. There is adequate recognition, phenomenal development, lots of community give back. Kroger has some amazing core values and I enjoy working here but sometimes the politics get in the way of smart business decisions.
Pros
Promotional opportunities
Cons
Work life balance

Fast paced and lots of lifting.
Order Selector (Former Employee) - Wichita, KS - August 6, 2022
It is a fast paced environment where employees are all on pallet jacks and forklifts racing around the aisles to build incentive pay for picking the orders. When you start out they start you at a 50% pace but they Expect you to move up 10% every week so in a month you better be at a good long distance runner, lol

Don’t settle
Inventory Control Specialist (Current Employee) - Groveland, FL - August 6, 2022
It’s okay just have to play the game to move up. They play favorites and don’t really handle issues, ISO from day to day but will be overworked and overlooked

Communication, trying to get fresh start in down time
