It’s a Job

It’s like any other banking job up until it becomes very sales based. Felt like we had to constantly push accounts and services on consumers just to meet our goals that further on seemed impossible to reach. The workplace culture seems very robotic as they want you to always greet costumers and answer phone calls with “welcome.” That causes a scripted feel and makes it seem like we’re creating insincere relationships with costumers. One thing about Huntington is that they require uniforms that you purchase from their employees website. That wouldn’t necessarily be a problem with any other job, but once you come across the clothing options, there really isn’t much to choose from. Also, they give you an allowance at the beginning of each year to purchase more clothing but starting off as a new employee, that allowance maybe cover two blouses if you are lucky. I would say the most enjoyable part of the job is the paid time off that builds up the longer you work for Huntington.

Eh- okay

Lack of communication & work life balance .Pay is decent - support staff is okay. Most big moves are completely in secret - and everything had to be kept hush hus in departments

Great perks, angry customers

Huntington really takes care of its employees, but not so much of its customers, and that backlash against you if you work in a customer service role.

Just a number

Employees are just numbers to management. They have no regard for them as people. Promises are made and not followed through on. It was a horrible place to work.

Self reliant

Often it’s your best judgment call with success or consequences. The job offers a lot of independent work but it can be hard to get a straight answer when you need it.

Sell sell sell

You’re expected to sell to everyone every product that we have under the guise of ‘we’re looking out for you’. You have to go to training and redundant meetings quite often and expected to network with people who don’t really care about you.

Ok job

It was a decent job but all they want you to do is sell sell sell. Not really interested in getting customers in the correct financial product for them just hit quotas.

Micromanaged call center

Company preaches one thing and does another. Communication is absolutely atrocious. Branches are operated as call centers rather than banks. Managements main focus is sales whether it is truly in the best interest of the customer. If you fail to exceed the performance standards then you’ll be assigned “coaching” sessions. Everything you do is being monitored and micromanaged

Awful

This company claims to have work life balance but leaves workers begging for help to even attend doctors appointments because they are so understaffed. Want to use your own PTO? Good luck! The bank is so understaffed that you end up working 6 days a weeks and have to beg to get coverage for any PTO. This company gives employees a mere 2% raise annually when the cost of living is up 9-10%. And you are overworked and underpaid. It is not a bank it’s a call center. You are expected to make sales calls to help upper management hit their goals while they leave you understaffed over worked and don’t care that you need help. Unless you drink their koolaid and love to be “rah rah” and brag about just doing your job, the advancement in this company is almost non existent. There’s a reason so many people leave to go to competitors and better pay. This company does not offer maternity leave. They have you file for short term disability for only a portion of your pay. I’m sorry since when did having a baby qualify as a disability that you don’t deserve your full pay and time to bond with your child without stressing about money. They make you buy their “career apparel” but only grant you enough money to buy two articles of clothing each year and the clothes only hold up for a few months. So you end up wearing worn out tattered clothing or having to pay out of pocket for their apparel, that is outdated and frumpy to begin with. There is a lack of communication between management and front line employees. You are expected to “just know” and reprimanded when you don’t. Management -

Absolutely Horrible

This company preaches colleague appreciation and work life balance however they are all talk. The staffing as atrocious leaving colleagues to fight to even go to a doctors appointment, let alone use their own PTO. The company doesn’t offer sick time, it’s all included in PTO and they don’t offer maternity leave as it is callassified as short term disability. Since when is having a baby a disability. We got 2% raises when the cost of living is up 8-9%, however we hit our best quarter to date . Leadership thinks they are doing gods work. I’ve seen colleagues horribly mess up, however no corrective action being taken because they got sales and no one “made noise”. Even though it was a breach of privacy incident. The communication doesn’t exist, colleagues are just expected to know things and the micro managing is unreal at this bank. Getting promoted with in the company is nearly impossible, you have a better chance at winning the lottery. Is you enjoy being micromanaged, overworked, underpaid and under appreciated then this is the company for you

Pros

I wish I had one

Cons

Too many

Bad management

Managers here think you can’t get a rating of 5 as no one is perfect. Then how are you expected to grow? It’s like a govt company and vey bad pay masters. But the work-life balance is good with lots of leave.

Worst executive leadership in the banking industry

Executive leadership team speak out both sides of their mouth. Over promise, under deliver and will cut their own throats for an opportunity to advance themselves. They do not value local retail branches or their associates.

Toxic Management, Low Pay, Amazing Coworkers

Extremely toxic management and no matter how much you try, it will not change. There are good eggs but they don’t have enough control. They are sleazy at times and do not pay well enough for the trauma you endure at the hands of horrible customers. However, you’ll find life friends.

As a CEB they expect you to resemble the capability of your branch manager

You have to resemble the capability of your branch manager. It’s not just basic transactions. The company expects you to do loans , open accounts, carry 10 minute conversation with each customer while being short staffed. You work super hard sometimes it can be you and 1-2 other people if your lucky. Imagine that with heavy traffic of constumers.

The people are wonderful but corporate is too removed from the jobs.

Huntington is awesome for their interpersonal relations but the corporate body is solely concerned with the numbers and getting the most bang for their buck or if the reps do they want this and that too improve but don't realize how hard that is for the people that do the actual work. They compensate well pay wise but the job is truly difficult when they want you to just take abuse over the phone and do referrals and upsell products... it's just not a good trade off stress wise. I would love to stay with the bank but their job search/ descriptions are unnavigable and there is no reach out internal recruitment so trying to get a position internally is a chore and seems impossible enough for me to look outside the company for further employment.

Pros

The managers are attentive and understanding!

Cons

The corporate members are only concerned with the numbers and not the actual job.

Fair company to work for. Good benefits. Management is fair.

I've enjoyed my time. They don't offer part-time positions. Easy to move up. Lots of training and ongoing. Plenty of PTO and other days off. Reasonable when it comes to children.
