HCT is a good training institution where you can enhance your skills and potential. Develop yourself in the process and learn to communicate/coordinate and blend with the different level of people and working culture.

Hct and the uae are the best place to work and live

In the beginning, it was a challenging job because of multiple campuses and remote work culture. However, with the best mode of technologies, soon it became very easy to take over all the assigned tasks and it was always rewarding when you get fair appreciation and bonus based on your performance.

Pros

High workload - too many deadlines, too many types of work to be done. Good work environment - good salary, great colleagues and easy going students. Frequent changes.

Productive and fun

Overall, it has been a very positive learning and productive experience. The workplace culture is always changing. Sometimes, this is positive and other times it can be negative. Your immediate boss makes a huge difference. The part I enjoy the most about the job is the students.

Excellent organization, good environment, well managed, very competitive pay and perks. Good exposure of latest teaching technology and tools. An opportunity to work with multinationals without any racism. Best educational organization in Middle East.

Good place to work

Good students who are keen to learn depending on the teacher's motivation. Students require a forceful teacher who make them work. Students can take advantage of any weaknesses in the system.

Pros

Good culture

Cons

Too much administrative work

A very demanding job but had great colleagues to work with

HCT was a wonderful place to work in, I have a great experience and learned a lot of skills from so many people. The most valuable thing in HCT was work with such a huge diversity of people and all of them were great colleagues that I will miss forever. The hardest part of the job: it was overwhelming with no flexibility.

Pros

fast paste with great learning experience and good pakage

Cons

long hours, very demanding

The work environment is fantastic and lot of learning opportunity as a staff

My day at work starts with meeting students, who have queries, parents, some student come only to say hello. The work place culture is broad mind, yet still holding on to the roots of emirate culture and that is so wonderful. The difficult part of work is when you have to things or have to change the plan at the last moment, but we still do it happily. Learning happens every moment and with each experience of the day. Each day is so blissful.

Good place to work

Good place to work with great facilities and staff but the salary does not equate to the rising prices of living and working in Dubai with a family at school

Started off a a high calibre college and a good place to work with great colleagues ended up as a challenging place to work and low employee morale

The Higher Colleges initially was a good place to work, however with management changes and general incompetency it became a frustrating and challenging place to work. I learnt a lot about the Arab culture and their work ethics. A typical day consisted of interacting with 30 students initially in the classroom and hangar, and then finding work placements for 200 students per year when my role changed.

Pros

Sunshine and general weather. Good salary. great work colleagues.

Cons

Poor management, lack of motivation students.

Oppressive environment with autocratic management.

Firstly remember where you are. You have to be very careful what you say and definitely never put anything in writing. There is an extreme culture of fear and a total lack of transparency in the college culture. Even if lower management and your line manager may be nice enough on a daily basis they will never make suggestions, voice faculty opinions in meetings or support staff in any way for fear of loosing their jobs. Staff are dismissed without warning and no reason ever given - there is no job security and no respect for faculty or admin staff. Secondly, if you are any kind of educational professional then you must remember to leave your standards behind. This can be difficult at first and will cause problems. The Emirati students may be friendly enough and easy going but he are not particularly hard working or studious. The expect full marks for everything and want to come and go as they please. if this does not happen they attempt bullying intimidation and will complain about you in an attempt to get you sacked. Remember they are the locals and have the power not you. It is a sharp leaning curve when you first arrive. Courses and the curriculum change all the time, sometimes mid-semester! Everything is always for a quick fix or for someone higher up to make some money out of the colleges. Never to do with teaching and learning and never with any consultation. Although like most places of work you will meet some great colleagues the working environment overall is toxic! My advice - stay well clear; there is more to life than money!

Pros

Reasonable salary and housing allowance.

Cons

Toxic environment. Callous, vindictive management. Hot and boring!

Oppressive and frustrating workplace in recent years

In recent years the organization deteriorated. Awful autocratic management by unqualified people who d0 not have experience in education and certainly have no idea how to motivate people. Continuous changes of policies. Culture of punishment and threats. Very frustrating. Co workers were excellent and salary was excellent but the environment was toxic.

Pros

Co workers, salary, some lovely students

Cons

Upper management

Working in the Gulf

It is a good place to work as long as you are familiar with the local culture and customs; the Middle East is attractive and at the same time, very different culturally to be able to handle it. There are three great incentives to go and work there: first, the international faculty body and the immense wealth of experiences and knowledge each teacher brings to the workplace. Secondly, the student body could be your most fervent fan if you find the right approach to them and make an effort to learn about their culture - it's very important for them. Thirdly, the pay and benefits are among the best in the world, and the UAE in particular is a spectacular place with many dream travel destinations just a step away. I enjoyed all three of them to the full, and would gladly go back or work with students coming from this part of the world.

Pros

Excellent collegial atmosphere, intensive professional training

Cons

Climate, management practices at times
