When first signing on, I was told that this was a full time position. While a full work week did, in fact, qualify as full time, I quickly and disappointingly found out that Focus is a temp agency and my work wasn't guaranteed. While there are temp-to-hire programs with guaranteed work, I wasn't at all made aware of the impermanence of the job and therefore didn't know about them (though you can switch to those at any time). I don't want to paint them as dishonest, per se, but the nature of the position was NOT made clear. As for the job itself, it was... fine, I suppose. Two breaks per shift, with vending machines as well as prepared food, was nice. It definitely took a bit to get used to the long hours and manual labor. You often walk up and down stairs multiple times per hour, and it's surprising how heavy a box of clothes can feel. I found myself doing nothing but sleeping and working on work days. The 3am, dark, exhausted drive home on roads, most with deer everywhere, was scary, but I lived 45 minutes away; if you live in Ottawa, it's probably much simpler. The people were nice, some never talking, some overbearingly friendly, but all helpful and kind, though you do the majority of the work completely alone (could be good or bad, depending on who you are. I didn't mind). I wouldn't describe my experience as positive, but by no means was it awful. Also, after I left and even after I responded to a text from them and said I no longer worked there, they called and emailed me almost every day to tell me work was available. They might still be, but I had to block them -

horrible place to seek employment

They sent me to work at the american eagle Ottawa location I drove an hour in a half upon arrival I was told the training class was cancelled there was no attempt to notify me ahead of time or any kind of warning that something like this could happen

Fair workplace

Great company to work for, only downfall is no paid vacation or holiday pay. Getting paid weekly is nice. It’s also more flexible than if you are a company employee.

Felt like a routine and very underappreciated

Only had one raise in five years as an administrative assistant. Felt really underappreciated and burned out after working for a long time. Also dealt with incompetent management that did not what they were doing!

Don’t do it!

No one stays they reel you in for the traveling recruiter role and it sounds great! You get here and you sign a non compete, you share houses with people/strangers, you share cars with the strangers, you work 12 hours and only get paid for 8 hours, you only get 10 hours of sick/PTO a quarter but you gotta work 90 days to get it..it’s like pulling teeth trying to get a day off to use it!

Horrible management

Management will tell you to do one thing then go behind your back and say they told you something different. You couldn't have time off if you were sick they would make you out to be a horrible employee regardless of how hard you worked. Management only care about advancement for themselves and doesn't care who they tear down in the process. The client is a whole different story the whole company is horrible. Would never in my life refer anyone to work for them not even my worse enemy.

It’s hot, they don’t pay on time or at all

This place it’s all rainbows and sunshine, they don’t pay on time and they blame you for their problems (F&P). DONT WORK THERE!!!!! It was cool at first until they turn on you like your nothing.

Horrible communication

They told third shift focus employees they’d get a placement after third shift was over and lied. Most people were left unassigned and given no prior warning of being left unemployed. Horrible communication

Not recommended.

Not accommodating for work/life balance. Doesn't value employees or treat any of them with any respect. Don't recommend anyone to work for this company.

not a good place to work at

I was lied to about what was promised when I started and traveling was great not getting to go home for more then a Friday night full day Saturday and maybe a half day Sunday really doesn't help with home life. When I was promised that i could go home for a week sometimes and work from home or at a office near by.

12 Hour Flex Scheduling. Work is easy. Pay is alright. Hard to get hired onto Church & Dwight. Heavy on forklift safety. Keep to yourself. Felon friendly.

Alright & Busy

It’s fun, hard to get home, work 24/7 and must be able to work alone to succeed. A few good people in managing but often people who travel who do the bare minimum

They do there best to make it work. They are always there to listen and try to work with you. It is a temp agency so some things are to be expected but overall happy with the experience

I've never worked for a temp service but Focus must be the worst

Focus is the worst place I've ever worked for never worked for a temp service but they must be the worst promises promises promises can't get a straight answer no one there has a clue they promised a holiday bonus if we work the 4th of July in the amount of $1,000 tax-free but they taxed it I don't like anyone messing with my money all these temp services should be run out of business a company cannot direct hire you they should go under

Seems like the perfect place at first with incentives. Different story once you actually start working there.

I worked for Focus for 2 months. I originally started on 1st shift and after hearing about shift premiums, decided to switch over to 3rd shift. After the first week I realized payment didn't change. I then contacted Focus about issue. They assured me next paycheck would have my rate change and back pay would be issued. The issue remained the same after a month and never got back pay. I decided to move forward and pursue employment elsewhere. There were other employees with similar issues regarding their $500 incentives. This company seems to take little respect to their employees compensation. I strongly suggest any one pursuing a job to try and get hired on with Nifco instead of going through this Temp Agency. You have been warned.

Extremely Toxic Environment

I was super excited to start working at Focus. Was told daily I was doing a great job. Out of nowhere I was let go one day. Focus is a toxic boys club on steroids. I do not recommend working there to anyone. They do not care about their female employees.
