What is the best part of working at the company? Laid back culture, great work life balance, can focus on different parts of your life, flexible hours What is the most stressful part about working at the company? This job was very laid back for me as I was a new grad. pay was good for location. Wasn't all that stressed and had plenty of time to enjoy my life.

Good place to learn but not earn
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - Bengaluru, Karnataka - May 18, 2022
Managers are complete nuts who have been heating the chair since 15- 20 years and pay heed to leads who have been working since 15 years and crush the juniors. management is pathetic, But learning curve will be good, but pathetic managers can destroy your career

Old tech - that requires a lot of blood and sweat
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - Merrimack, NH - March 30, 2021
Fidelity has a lot of old apps that are only getting worse. Company is focusing on trying to experiment with new apps to see if it can help generate revenue. They are avoiding modernizing the technology that does generate revenue. On these teams everyone leaves, because of Fidelity one year transition policy. Which makes supporting these applications harder. This company is not modernized. A lot of people who are old school and don't like change.
Pros
Good benefits, nice people

Pensioners' Paradise
Associate Software Engineer (Current Employee) - County Galway - January 27, 2021
Good place to work if you plan on retiring soon. All the benefits are aimed at an older workforce. The technology is always lagging far behind other companies. They're terrified of doing anything new but still love to pat themselves on the back and say they are "innovative". Security is by far their biggest priority. Everything is locked down and it takes ages to get access or else you'll end up making requests to other teams who have access to do work on your behalf and it's an extremely frustrating process as a developer.
Pros
Sports & Social Club
Cons
Work is incredibly boring, the tech is outdated, overly bureaucratic, old staff, very PC

Exposure to technology for tech individuals
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Westlake, TX - September 20, 2020
I would say the best thing about my time at Fidelity is being exposed to more technologies. The worst thing I would say are the individuals in my group. Management individuals in Workplace Investments were some of the most insecure individuals i have ever had to work with. They would complain about even the tiniest issue. If wanting to work at Fidelity I would recommend any other division other than Workplace Investments
Pros
Technology
Cons
Management

Progressive and modern company
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Westlake, TX - May 6, 2020
Fidelity is a great place to work. They offer competitive compensation, and invest heavily in developing their talent. Management is pretty hands off, and you are generally free to work from home as required.

Good work life balance
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Durham, NC - March 20, 2020
Fidelity has good work life balance - if you have appointments or need to take time off, management will probably understand. Most enjoyable part of the job was working with the colocated scrum team.

Good stepping stone, but I'd rather not stay.
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Raleigh, NC - February 12, 2020
There is a reason most developers there there were on a work visa. Most Americans would not tolerate this kind of work environment. It is characterized by old school work politics and an overly formal atmosphere. There are also more toxic characters here than in most tech firms in my opinion. This is not to say you would not have a fulfilling career here. There are some people who do very well and are satisfied, but the likelihood of this type of scenario is lower than at other companies I've worked for. Get to know your team very well before accepting an offer. Make sure there are no micro managers and/or technically incompetent members. Otherwise you are in for a world of pain.
