Good job far as coworkers. Management and supervisors need work
Food Court (Current Employee) - Loves Park, IL - October 1, 2023
A lot of things at costco felt very racially motivated. I loved the job and the few coworkers I did come across. As far as management goes there was a lot of prejudice involved within that job.

It is not a bad job
Service Deli Clerk (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - October 1, 2023
It is an okay job if you are older if you are in highschool or around 18 you might feel quite left out as I did because a lot of the women are 45-60 years old, they also make you work extremely hard and fast and you work in either an extremely hot chicken room or a freezing prep room if you are okay with you body going through this then it’s a good job the supervisors are also really good and understanding it’s just the upper management

Great company to work for
Costco Meat Manager (Former Employee) - Waterbury, CT - October 1, 2023
Worked at Costco for 5 years it's the best job I ever had in term of benefits & pay. I started at $15 & by year 5 I was making $24 plus 4 weeks of vacation. I left because the managers/ supervisors at my location (Waterbury) were lazy & the manager at my store used to treat his employees bad.
Pros
Pto, Extra pay on Sundays, Vacation time
Cons
Managers/Supervisors don't help you

Daily tasks were fast paced but not overall difficult.
Midnight warehouse stocker (Former Employee) - Windsor, ON - October 1, 2023
Management was very supportive and easy to work for. Co-workers would help out if they could. Hardest part of the job was stocking sections on time and to the Costco standard. Most enjoyable part of the job was helping customers after open. Midnight stocking department was overall very well managed and enjoyable.

Overall good workplace environment, good co-workers and managers
Deli Clerk (Former Employee) - Winterburn, AB - September 30, 2023
Typical work day was fast paced but heavy on teamwork to complete tasks and lots of communication between the work force. I believe that after working for Costco I'm able to keep more calm in a fast paced environment and that asking for help is never the wrong thing to do. Management was overall good, there was a few hiccups but nothing extreme. They were super understanding 99% of the time and very open with there communications. The workplace itself was mostly upbeat and light, if there was ever a mistake with the work someone or myself have done it was addressed directly to us and corrected with a positive outlook. I believe the hardest part of the job was that it could get pretty hectic with many people working in one room with 4 different tasks on the go filling the room but I wouldn't say that it was the worst experience because Costco had a workforce of very great and loving people. For sure the most enjoyable part of my job there was working with so many talented and driven people. Being able to have open communication and a few good laughs throughout the shifts. Overall I think Costco can be stressful to work for but it was never draining. Always moving, laughing, and building friendships through work. If one person felt overwhelmed someone was always there to step in and help, managers included. I would for sure work there again.
Pros
good mangement, friendly co-workers, teamwork
Cons
I honestly don't have much to say for cons and if I do they are very mild.

Extremely productive workplace with great benefits and long term growth opportunities.
Meat Wrapper (Current Employee) - Columbus, OH - September 29, 2023
My days at work vary greatly based on the needs of the business. Today I'll open the shop, yesterday I cut meat on the table, and tomorrow I might train someone a clear out the Meat cooler. I've learned everything I need to learn about being productive, customer service, maintaining quality products, and teaching the newcomers. Management in general is extremely demanding in order to meet their level of expectations. Culture is members first but with extreme efficiency and being neat, straight, and stocked. Hardest part of the job is the fast paced nature of it and maintaining the standard. Most enjoyable part of the job is the social aspect and seeing your labor come to life.
Pros
Great benefits with Healthcare, bonus program, parental leave just to name a few. Hourly rate is the best you can find in a retail environment.
Cons
Very little overtime opportunity, they generally expect them to be your top priority, can be very difficult to obtain a full time position, or Supervisor position.

Above average pay and benefits
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Wyoming, MI - September 29, 2023
This company rewards you the longer you work there, and so it becomes more appealing over time. However, it can be stressful with unrealistic expectations from management. Most(but not all) of the management team are primarily concerned with improving their own position within the company, and so the values as they are written on paper do not always translate into reality.

Very Organized
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - September 29, 2023
After working there for 10 years, I am happy to report that I've had a great experience. The management was always up to par and I never dreaded having to show up

Great benefits but overworked
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) - Dayton, OH - September 28, 2023
Great benefits. Depending on your pharmacy manager, extremely stressful, always short staffed. You will always have Sunday's off which is a huge benefit.

Great place to work
Cashier (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - September 28, 2023
Great place to work. What a stay longer if there was more flexible hours. Overall, if you don’t have any other responsibilities, Costco is a better job than the rest of retail jobs out there. If you put effort in you can easily get in full-time

Low life job
Cashier Assistant (Current Employee) - Meridian, ID - September 27, 2023
Assist b****y cashiers with boxing people's purchases. Run around the warehouse putting return items back on shelves. Push carts and pickup outside trash in parking lot multiple times a week. Micromanaged. Supervisors have their favorites so be prepared to kiss asz. Hard work goes unnoticed.

Meh
Cashier (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - September 27, 2023
The pay will make you question if its worth it. It’s not bad pay but there will be days where you are outside in the heat pushing carts or inside dealing with their entitled customers

Great company, horrible management
Overnight Stocker (Current Employee) - Fremont, CA - September 27, 2023
Most upper managers are driven by their egos and hidden agendas. Everything is justified with the cult company slogan "For the needs of the business." They are selective with following the rules and accountability. Company policies are great on paper and can take care of us, but best to clock-in, finish your task under the radar, and clock-out.
Pros
Consistent raises based on hours worked, paid holidays, winter leave, encourage in-house hiring/promotion
Cons
Selective accountability, nepotism/favoritism, no communication between departments, profit over people

Good pay, good play
Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Richmond, VA - September 27, 2023
I was in an auxiliary warehouse, so didn't have all the big store problems. Pay was emaculate for the time and amount of work you actually did in a day. And if you like discounts, that free Costco membership card is a plus.
