Varied work but depressing enviroment

Benefits BAE Systems attracts employees due to the benefits of working there. These include: High wages, job security (contracts until 2050), integrated degree and the company car policy. However, these are the only benefits! Management From the moment I entered this company, I realised management only care about themselves and most of the time you are left to figure problems out on your own. This frequently made me feel unmotivated. People Workers within this organisation are generally miserable and this atmosphere is very draining. Day to day work I frequently did business admin work not project management. One of my roles involved being a scribe... LocationBarrow-in-furness is not a good place to live. If you are a young person you will struggle finding anything interesting to do. 30 miles to the lake district is not exactly 'a stones throw away'OverallI left this organisation and it is the best decision I ever made. Trust me, this place is not worth your mental health.

Great company

Great company. I started as an analyst and move my way up to project manager within a few years. I served with a great team and management. Work was busy, but I enjoyed every moment of the opportunity I was given. My plans though, after almost 8 years, was to move back to Central Texas and settle down with family.

Slow with a bad staff versus contractor culture

If you are a contractor like me you are up against a job for life culture, very very "Woke" environment, endless pointless meetings, a lot of people really have no function, a lot of "Data Gathering" with no outcome.

Safe and secure company to work for

A good place to work and gain basic skills. It is a large company so advancement in your role can sometimes be difficult. There are some amazing people to work with and lots of diversity. There can be, but there is not always, really great opportunities across the company.

Projec Manager

Relaxed environment to work in. Good at flexible working. The most enjoyable part is working half day on fridays. Too many family members working in the company so one has to be careful what you say.

Proud to have been on such a Prestigious Project

A great experience working on such a prestigious project. The culture was excellent and BAE have great people working for them. They are very focused on training and there are plenty of careers opportunities

Questionable

Not great for career progression unless your face fits. Must have depth of knowledge of environment to be successful as no time for on the job training you are just dropped in the deep end with only online training for help.

Strange place to work unless you are a local

I basically did nothing during my tenure at BAE and was surprised at the lack of actual activity considering what their product is.If you are a contractor you are basically ignored regardless of how good your ideas are.

Intresting and challenging place to work

BAE was a great place to work with great people. Everyday was something new and interesting with many challenges and a positive attitude toward getting things done.

Great Company; Challenging Environment

BAE systems is a great company to work for, however, the Fort Gordon site is plagued with toxic leaders who do not easily cooperate with our military customer.

Great benefits

BAE promote work/life balance extensively. They like to make sure their employees are well treated. They have a very nice private jet, super fun to ride on.

High workload, good team ethos

High workload, multiple demands and a need to be able to prioritise. Good team ethos and team working. A need to be a pro-active, self-starter. Flexible working times, although long hours often required

Good Workplace

I was only here for my work experience for a week and enjoyed it very much, nice staff and good management. I learned about the Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier aswell has more experince using Microsoft Office.

Can not recommend

Small company, without proper IT, poor and very conservative management that does not care about workers at all. Management does not think about future, only keeps current status.
