Weak management and average to below average wages
Salaried Profession (Former Employee) - Fort Wayne, IN - June 3, 2022
Benefits continue to erode. Eliminated profit sharing. Reduced time off. Reduced/eliminated individual awards which were to replace profit sharing. Engineers leaving in droves. Attempting to hire new employees at higher levels than those that left. Raises 4-6% below inflation. If you are a 40+ years old employee, it appears you are not valued compared to your younger counterparts (i.e. lower raises and no bonuses).
Pros
Free popcorn and air conditioning
Cons
Below salaries when compared to local market

Work you until you drop but don't compensate you for your productivity.
Fitter/Welder (Former Employee) - Hecksher Drive Jacksonville FL - June 1, 2022
Emphasis on output - no safety or employee concern. However, no one gets performance increases just a measly 3% "cost of living". Many employees "get lost" during the day and do the minimum to get by so the other employees have to work to make up the slack. Management is a joke
Pros
none
Cons

Typical Big Govt Contractor
Principal Software Engineer I (Former Employee) - Herndon, VA - June 1, 2022
Lack of leadership and cut throat management. No concern for employees. Like to underbid and fight for ECPs later. Mainly a body shop. Glad I left.

Average company with jobs for mates
Systems Engineering Manager (Current Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - May 30, 2022
Pay is average to below market rate for comparable roles and industry Very unstable work environment with regular redundancies - mostly due to management not being able to resource manage Loads of people Suddenly found to be in new roles that were never advertised or that had been awarded before it was advertised Great products that do wonders for our armed forces, but a lot of waste and very poor management that results in increased costs and lost contracts

Great purpose
N/A (Current Employee) - North Carolina - May 25, 2022
Great company purpose and meaningful work. Pay was low to average and opportunities were limited. Very smart and talented employees to learn with and from.

There is a strong bullying culture at this place
Airfield Firefighter instructor (Retired) (Former Employee) - Preston - May 14, 2022
Bullying in the workplace is rife at this place due to the long hours and repetitive work on the shop floors. The management do not care about their workforce

Not a bad place to work
Senior Financial Analyst (Current Employee) - Nashua, NH - May 9, 2022
If you can get into BAE, do it and you won't regret it solely due to the fact that growth is in abundance although you are taxed by benefits that lack.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons

Management has created a toxic work environment.
Level 3 Machinist (Current Employee) - Louisville, KY - May 7, 2022
Good pay but horrible place to work. Management is 100% against the workers in very way. Safety is against us. HR is against us. Upper management is slowing everything down and making it almost impossible to just come in and do your job.

Very poor practice and structure
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Blackburn, Lancashire - May 6, 2022
Working here is a huge challenge. The 12 week probation period can take up to a year. Wages are not payed to new starters. Management are powerless to do anything (apart from disciplines). They have some serious GDPR issues due to insufficient systems and employee log ons. Employees are forced to break contractual agreements. The site has minimal security and employees are made to act as premise's security. Management are office based and never hands on, which is a positive. The site runs on minimal staff, Not many people want to work here as competition warehouses are much better payed and structured. You are also expected to buy your own PPE and uniform.
Pros
Easy work, few nice staff, relaxed and chilled
Cons
Expensive to work for, Feels unsafe and lacking security, having to share systems, emails, and log ons due to management not having the power to do much.

flexible place to work as far as work hours
Engineering Assistant (Former Employee) - Nashua, NH - May 3, 2022
Decent benefits and pay, but the workload could be better. Too many levels of management and higher ups are clueless to the actual issues in the factories. Too many people are hired only to just sit around.

Ok
Engineer (Current Employee) - Warton, Lancashire - April 29, 2022
Bae Systems is OK, but, it's slow paced and suited more to those people who aren't massively driven to succeed. It's a comfy job that will likely consume your entire life as you'll never leave
Pros
Ok Pay
Cons
Low Progression

Good work life balance, a good company to work for if you're old and want to retired.
Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) - San Jose, CA - April 24, 2022
Pros: Turnover rate is low, people stay here until they retire pretty much. Cool technology. Lot of "powerpoint engineering" and CAD work. A great place to work and get military industry experience. Cons: Low pay considering its in the bay area. Lot of rules and office politics.

Job
Welder/Fabricator (Former Employee) - York, PA - April 20, 2022
Great hands on work. Horrible company to work for. Management does nothing for employees and the moral. Salary only wants to disband the union. The union is the glue of the company.

It's a man's world
Military Build Contractor (Former Employee) - Nashua, NH - April 8, 2022
People you work with are unfriendly & clicky. They are not open to new ideas or to hear how you might offer easier ways to accomplish a task since "we have been doing it this way for 20 years" I couldn't wait to leave since I despised going to work there each day because I was made to feel incompetent even though I had more experience than most there & it doesn't matter if you are a veteran.

Good place to work
Engineer (Current Employee) - Adelaide Region SA - April 8, 2022
It is generally a good place to work. Everyone is ready to help you when you need them. I haven’t had any issues since working with BAE. I would recommend BAE to anyone looking to work with them.

Relaxed and Enjoyable Workplace
Relaxed management, understanding people. Work life balance was acceptable, but little in the way of progression of job or pay rise. Enjoyable but only for short amount of time.
