AUE is a nice place to work. multicultural working environment where there are a lot of potential positions are available. It promotes equal opportunities for men and women.

Good pay but over-consuming work.

The only good thing about working for this employer is the pay. Other than that, there is nothing else positive to point out. You are over consumed by daily tasks that are thrown at you and require immediate attention; you'll have countless student complaints about grades (which the university indirectly encourages); the management is purely concerned with finances and the image of the university (zero interest in academics); your job is never truly secured; you have almost no freedom in your teaching (everything is pre-determined from the course syllabus to reading material, to assignments and format of assignments); and you will have almost no time at all to conduct research (which in academia is career suicide if you ask me).If you are simply looking for a paycheck, I recommend it; if you are looking to grow, stay away!

Pros

Colleagues

Cons

flexibility, research, teaching.

It was difficult but I learned a lot

Working there was very stressful, one has to be very careful with the colleagues, but because all of that I learned a lot even on the personal level, important thing is I learned not to trust anyone.

Different, particular, student-centered, overwhelming, flowed and precarious

A rapid environment, always on lookout for the next best thing to stay in competition. None-traditional is putting it mildly, from a conception of an idea to putting it into practice is but a moment.

Pros

Creative, passionate, always moving ahead, opening new grounds, cad-do attitude, rapped, very particular, very high attention to quality of delivery and research

Cons

Overwhelming, infuriatingly challenging personalities and settings, a lot of miscommunication, overlapping roles and responsibilities, a lot of redundancy, too impulsive emotional decision making, nano-management - if that is possible-, no adherence to conflict of interest

Unhealthy work environment, unprofessional approach of the top management

Mentally unhealthy environment due to unprofessional approach of the top management. Family business with no purpose of educating students, but only pleasing students to keep the business running. Career opportunity only if you are member of the family or friend or in any other personal relations. Place where rumors are more important for the management than professional performance of employees. Low salaries with no increment even with highest performance evaluations. No appreciation of efforts. Discrimination by nationalities. Very high turnover of employees.

Good Company to work

American University in the Emirates’ (AUE) motto is that “Nothing is Impossible” and through this empowering phrase it continuously nurtures its students to take on their studies.Since establishing in 2006 with accreditation from the Ministry of Education,

Poor management and low benefits

This is a diploma mill. Was forced to change grades for locals. Very authoritarian upper management although I really liked my dean and coworkers. Very low compensation for housing and virtually no child education allowance. Of the 4 UAE universities in which I worked as a faculty member, this was by far the worst.

Pros

Co-workers

Cons

Upper management. Low benefits.

Open to new ideas

The best way to describe AUE is like a startup - it's full of passion to soar but lacks the concrete infrastructure. I believe it will accomplish greater heights but this is the next 7 years.

Pros

Great boss

Cons

Not so great heads of departments

Being exposed into different subfields of Costumer Service industry through my 3 years of Experience, I have developed Excellent communication skills, problem solving and time management skills along with exceptional cash handling experience, and work under pressure. Moreover my Study and Bachelor degree in Law acquired during my 5 Years in Kharkiv University of Economics and Law, has developed in me a high knowledge of International Law and exposure to a variety of laws, along with developing high communication skills and ability to work and perform within a professional organization as a unified team keeping a healthy and professional attitude for the best interest of Company's vision.

Cons

Growing Place

If you are dedicated, committed, self motivated and believe in focused working environment and not initiating any agenda or work politics, its an amazing place to work. Mind your own business, refrain from undue and gossips to avoid negative energies, AUE would support you in all the aspects. Considering the academicians especially who resist change it can be bit challenging.

Pros

Learning Environment, Growth, Roam to Perfom

Cons

Insecurity by old school sometime, but still manageable

Working at AUE is an incredibly rewarding opportunity both professionally and personally. I highly recommend it!

AUE is truly the place where nothing is impossible! It’s culture is one that encourages employee initiatives regardless of age or rank. It is also a place where the working environment is one in which an employee feels a strong belonging to a family given the support and encouragement received from everyone. Top management follows an open door policy and the university is far from the suffocating bureaucracy typical of universities. Evaluation system allows you to pursue diverse interests including community service! In terms of benefits the university rewards faculty and staff on several occasions in addition to annual increments and financial rewards for other achievements. The diversity of faculty and staff is also remarkable and added to the richness of my experience as an American working in the Middle East. I highly recommend this university to anyone seeking to work in the UAE!

Pros

Diversity, benefits, work environment

Difficult to work with. Unpleasant surprises almost every day.

This is a student oriented family business. Focused on pleasing students rather than teaching them. Yet the university is to follow certain rules and regulations of ministry of education. University administration ask instructors to be flexible and if they encounter any problem because of too much tolerance they blame the instructor. Even terminate the contract.

Pros

It can be the first experience in Dubai

Cons

Long hours

Fun work place with No salary increment

Increment and other benefits are on demand. There is nationality partiality.Top Management is biased. Working hours are flexible, there is enough fun activities.

Pros

Good Working Hours

Cons

Gender and nationality biased

working environment is not health

The American University in the Emirates is a good setup but the working environment is unhealthy due to the president of the university. The turnover of staff is huge and need to be looked at.

Pros

good staff

Cons

bad top management (president)
