Picker

If you have mental heath struggles you will be looked at as another slacker that can’t do there job, you’ll be judged, deputy’s and manager’s have no clue what there doing half of the time, there are no light duties so you will suffer ,all you are is just a number easily replaceable and no proper training, but hey welcome to Aldi.

Pros

Money

Cons

Everything else

Depends on your team

The work itself is hard work and expectations are set for you. It isn't an entirely bad thing as you have goals to hit, but once you hit them you're fine. Some people have a hard time keeping up with the fast-paced work environment. Though, if you know anything about Aldi it is that you have to be fast. Most times, your team and management will make or break the workplace. Some locations have you work a set number of closing and opening shifts leaving the job a little rigid in availability. As you advance your time off becomes much less steady leaving you at the whim of your store manager.

Pros

Pay, people, and management

Cons

Heavy lifting and work-life balance

Great place to work for as long as your immediate manager is good. Expect alot in a timely manner. Time is everything. Love the pay. They gave me a chance when no one else would because im a convicted felon.

"Aldi holds you in Golden Handcuffs"

Aldi presents itself as a company which cares about its employees. They offer slightly higher than average pay for their positions and they tell you one of the pillars of the company is work-life balance. Here's what you find out after you get past the pretty letters - you have to work and never stop working for this job. Management shifts are between seven and ten hours long. You work from the moment you clock in until the moment you clock out - which by the way is never a guarantee. I have stayed late on average at least once every two weeks for something that was outside of my control. Their internal computer system has many problems that can potentially prevent you from being able to close a store and there is no visible effort by the company to fix these issues. They expect you to work past when you are scheduled to leave regardless of your plans and without ever even asking you. It is required for ASM's to work a ten hour shift in place of the store manager once weekly. If the closing manager calls in, they expect you to stay and work a minimum of a 13 hour day without making any effort to have the salaried manager come in or find potential replacements. It is a common saying among disgruntled employees who are over worked and burnt out that Aldi holds you in golden handcuffs - they give you the means to survive by paying you a livable wage but they own you in return.

Fast-paced, demanding work environment with good pay and awful management.

I loved my job at Aldi. Most people quit on the first day, or even during training- if you work here, you will probably like it too! The hardest part of the job was dealing with management. If you don’t have a good team, you will not enjoy this work environment. My management was neglectful and problematic throughout my last 8 months of work. Policy is strict and does not allow for life events (i.e. a family emergency or health situation).

Great pay and hours of operation

We closed at 7pm and were closed on Sundays, great for family life. Fast-paced, productivity is #1 so employee/workload ratio did not align. Decent pay and great benefits

Productive work place

It is a good place to work at. Hours vary and overtime is required. Leaders are okay. I would say it’s a safe place to work at. Wages are somewhat competitive.

I waited 5 years to get the job, and I couldn’t wait one day to quit

What is the best part of working at the company? The people you work with. There’s nothing good about working for the company at all What is the most stressful part about working at the company? All of it. Everything about this job was stressful. especially the hours given as a single mom of twoWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Hostile and pressured. You’re constantly running around the store doing multiple things What is a typical day like for you at the company?Coming in to close, you get to clean up after everyone’s mess. And when you open it’s the 5:30 shift . Lifting boxes of milk above your shoulders inside of the cooler

Very physical but worth the pay

It’s hard but once you learn the job the pay is definitely worth it. Never a dull moment and not much down time. Makes time go fast. Flexible schedule good pay.

Do not work here

GREAT pay don't get me wrong but there is a reason for it so be prepared to always be go, go, go. They do NOT care about their employees, treat em like dirt. turn over rate for this company is super high and there is great reason behind it. I can explain so much more but best that you all just do your own research prior to applying.

Fast paced but fun and enjoyable

Almost 10 years with Aldi. In that time, my personal circumstances have changed with child care etc. my store manager doesn’t everything to ensure I have hours that suit my home life. Very busy and face paced, but always have a laugh and a joke; great work place!

Solid work

Reliable, solid work. Nothing out of the ordinary to report- consistent hours, etc. Management receptive to suggestions for change. Not huge opportunities for advancement.

Progression non existent

Deputy managers leading by example in their departments and thriving successfully with constant positive feedback. Amazing performances year in, year out, only to lose out on being promoted to external candidates that have no experience of working for ALDI. It's an insult to deputy managers that give their everything in the workplace and lose out on a assistant manager/section leader position by an interview in which anyone has the potential to be great at if confident enough. Surely leading by example, showing your skills on a daily should be worth more. It's a shame and demotes the managers doing well. Understandable when you go beyond the section leader/assistant manager role, but up until that position, it should not be the case. Whatever happened to promoting those that do well hey...Higher management should think more highly of their staff

Cons

Lack of progression, each department to their own, lack of acknowledgement.

Friendly staff, easy work

All the employees are very friendly with a few exceptions (But that’s everywhere) fairly u understanding bosses. Only issue is the freezer work some days are perfectly fine but the distribution of workers could be better. Some days you’ll be in the freezer for 3 hours. Others might be 6-7 which can get very draining.

Good place and good people

Had a good time working there and felt supported with personal issues. Had some good customers, some bad but that's the same with any retail Job, overall good.

Motivational and fun place to work!

I used to work at ALDI, and would again. As any job. It can be stressful and hard work, but it is truly a good place to work. Room for advancement. Great benefits.

Fast paced efficiency is the name of the game in every aspect of the company

Worked for the company for years I ran circles around all but a few coworkers. The company has shifted to seeing just how much they can squeeze out of each person. And has take 80% of the decision make away from store Management. Even to the point of a non editable automatic schedule system which does not give proper coverage to run the store effectively and keep up with customers needs. Was forced to pickup more slack to continue making the store run to the point some weeks not even having a day off. The company has gone the direction of self checkout and cutting staff while increasing workload on day to day operations. If your willing to do 3 peoples jobs at once this is the place for you.

Typical Warehouse job, Good pay

Decent warehouse job, good work environment and pleasant coworkers. Depending on the day, you might not get a full 40 hours but there are ways to make up for them after selection is over.
