An established engineering manufacturer in Northern Ireland is seeking an experienced Robotic Welder to join its production team. The successful candidate will operate, programme, monitor and maintain robotic welding systems used in the manufacture of high-quality steel fabrications and heavy-duty engineered products. The role requires a strong understanding of welding processes, engineering drawings, quality standards and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Set up, programme and operate robotic welding cells to produce welded steel components.

Load and unload fabricated parts into robotic welding fixtures.

Select and verify correct welding parameters, consumables and programmes.

Perform MIG/MAG welding where manual intervention or finishing is required.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols and work instructions.

Carry out dimensional and visual inspections to ensure products meet specification.

Identify welding defects and carry out repairs where necessary.

Adjust robot programmes and fixtures to improve weld quality and production efficiency.

Perform routine maintenance, cleaning and basic fault-finding on robotic welding equipment.

Work alongside fabrication, assembly and quality teams to meet production schedules.

Ensure compliance with welding procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.

Maintain accurate production and quality records.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience in robotic welding within a manufacturing environment.

Experience operating industrial robotic welding systems (e.g. FANUC, ABB, KUKA or Yaskawa).

Strong MIG/MAG welding skills.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.

Good understanding of welding quality standards and inspection techniques.

Experience working with mild steel and structural steel fabrications.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Good communication skills in English.

Willingness to work overtime when required.

Desirable Skills

Experience with robotic welding programming and optimisation.

Knowledge of welding procedure specifications (WPS).

Experience using measuring equipment and quality inspection tools.

Forklift or overhead crane experience.

Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.

Working Environment

Modern engineering manufacturing facility.

Production-based role involving robotic welding cells and manual welding stations.

Use of overhead cranes and material handling equipment.

Appropriate PPE provided.

Candidate Requirements

Must meet the Skilled Worker visa eligibility requirements.

Applicants outside the UK must hold, or be willing to obtain, a UKVI-approved English language qualification at B2 level where required for their visa application.
