Workshop Team Leader (Marine / Automotive)

Job Summary

Extreme Marine LLC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workshop Team Leader to oversee the daily operations of our marine service workshop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine or automotive workshop operations, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage technicians while ensuring high standards of quality, productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.

The Workshop Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating repair and maintenance activities, monitoring technician performance, ensuring timely completion of jobs, and maintaining workshop efficiency in accordance with company procedures.

Key ResponsibilitiesWorkshop Operations

• Supervise and coordinate daily workshop activities.
• Allocate repair and maintenance jobs to technicians based on skill level and workload.
• Monitor work progress and ensure jobs are completed within agreed timelines.
• Ensure all repairs meet company quality standards before vehicle or boat delivery.
• Conduct final quality inspections before customer handover.
• Support technicians in diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults.

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate, and develop workshop technicians.
• Monitor technician productivity and efficiency.
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings and communicate work priorities.
• Identify training needs and coach team members to improve technical skills.
• Ensure discipline and compliance with company policies.

Customer Service

• Coordinate with Service Advisors and customers regarding repair status.
• Assist in preparing repair estimates when required.
• Handle customer technical inquiries professionally.
• Ensure excellent customer satisfaction throughout the repair process.

Workshop Management

• Ensure proper Job Card management and accurate work documentation.
• Monitor workshop cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
• Coordinate with the spare parts department to ensure timely availability of parts.
• Report workshop performance to management.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies.
• Promote safe working practices.
• Conduct safety inspections.
• Report incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste materials according to environmental regulations.

Performance & Reporting

• Monitor daily workshop productivity.
• Achieve workshop efficiency and labor utilization targets.
• Submit daily, weekly, and monthly workshop performance reports.
• Monitor technician attendance and overtime.
• Assist management with budgeting and planning.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive or marine workshop.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic systems.
• Experience with workshop management systems and Job Card processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Valid UAE driving licence is an advantage.
