Full job description

Job Purpose

To support the smooth and hygienic operation of the school canteen by assisting with food preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation and portioning as instructed.
  • Serve food and drinks to students and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Keep food counters, tables, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and temperature control procedures.
  • Check food items and ensure they are properly stored and labeled.
  • Assist with receiving and checking food deliveries when required.
  • Refill food, drinks, and other canteen items as needed.
  • Follow the daily menu and instructions from the supervisor.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene and wear the required uniform and PPE.
  • Dispose of waste properly and keep the canteen area clean throughout the day.
  • Report any food safety, equipment, stock, or cleanliness issues to the supervisor.
  • Support the team during busy periods, school events, and special activities.
  • Perform any other duties related to the canteen as assigned by the supervisor.
