Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced .NET Developer to maintain and enhance our existing Windows desktop application developed using VB.NET, ASP.Net, Visual Studio 2008 (e.g., .NET Framework 3.5 & up), Crystal Reports, and SQL Server.

The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving application issues, enhancing existing functionality, maintaining reports, and supporting database operations. The candidate will also contribute to the planned modernization of the application into an Angular frontend with an ASP.NET Core Web API backend.

Mandatory Technical Skills

· Hands-on experience with VB.NET and Windows Forms applications.

· Experience maintaining legacy applications developed using older versions of Visual Studio and .NET Framework (e.g., .NET 3.5).

· Strong SQL Server skills, including queries, joins, stored procedures, views, and database troubleshooting.

· C# and modern .NET development.

· ASP.NET Core Web API and RESTful services.

· Entity Framework Core.

· Angular, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

· Practical experience creating and modifying SAP Crystal Reports version 8.5.

· Experience with ADO.NET and database connectivity.

· Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

· Understanding of Windows application deployment, configuration, and runtime dependencies.

Preferred Skills for Future Modernization

· Git version control.

· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

· Experience with phased migration strategies (e.g., Strangler Fig pattern).

· API security, authentication, and authorization.

· Unit testing, regression testing, and application migration planning.

· Power BI reports.

· Knowledge and experience of Retail Point of Sale (POS) systems.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain and enhance the existing VB.NET Windows desktop application.

· Investigate and resolve production issues and application defects.

· Modify Crystal Reports according to business requirements.

· Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.

· Document existing business logic and application workflows.

· Assess existing application functionality and dependencies for modernization.

· Develop and maintain APIs and frontend modules as the migration progresses.

· Ensure data integrity and functional consistency between the existing and new applications.

· Perform testing, deployment, and technical documentation.

Candidate Profile

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

· Candidates should demonstrate strong legacy application maintenance skills, database knowledge, and the ability to learn or work with modern web technologies.

· Experience in migrating desktop business applications to web-based systems will be an advantage.

· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to interview users and translate legacy business logic into modern workflows.

Suggested Experience

Approximately 4–6 years of relevant development experience, with demonstrable hands-on experience in VB.NET Windows Forms, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and Crystal Reports. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED9,000.00 per month
