Key Responsibilities

  • Select the correct rigging method and lifting accessories for the planned lift.
  • Inspect and verify all lifting gear is certified, colour-coded, fit for use, and has adequate capacity.
  • Safely attach and detach loads and never lift loads with unknown weight.
  • Verify the load's weight, centre of gravity (CoG), and correct hook alignment before lifting.
  • Ensure the lifting area, load path, and crane radius are clear of hazards and personnel.
  • Maintain full control of the load using tag lines and approved rigging techniques.
  • Direct and guide load movements, warn personnel, and ensure safe communication with the crane operator.
  • Stop lifting operations immediately if unsafe conditions arise.
  • For Non-Standard Rigging (NSR), safely plan, set up, and execute manual hoisting operations, verify anchor points, adapt lifting methods for confined spaces, monitor the lift continuously, respond to emergencies, and ensure proper de-rigging, inspection, and post-task review.

Requirements

  • Secondary School Certificate or equivalent (Grade 10 preferred).
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English for safe work execution.
  • Trainee: 0–6 months (under direct supervision)
  • Level 1: 6–18 months
  • Level 2: 18–36 months
  • Level 3: 3+ years with proven competence for critical lifting activities.
  • Successfully completed an ADNOC-approved 2-day Rigger/Slinger training and holds a valid Certificate of Competency.
  • Re-assessed every 2 years to maintain certification.
  • Competent in load weight estimation, centre of gravity (CoG), rigging methods, and selection of lifting accessories.
  • Physically fit to perform rigging duties and trained in man-basket lifting operations.
  • Qualified to perform only the lifting categories within their certified competency level.
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to HSE standards, safe lifting practices, and effective teamwork during lifting operations.
