Job Summary

The Paramedic provides advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care to patients experiencing illness, injury, or trauma. The Paramedic is responsible for assessing patients, delivering life-saving interventions, stabilizing medical conditions, and ensuring safe transportation to healthcare facilities while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and professional practice.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment and Treatment

  • Perform patient assessment and determine treatment priorities.
  • Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) interventions according to approved clinical protocols.
  • Administer medications and intravenous therapies within scope of practice.
  • Perform cardiac monitoring and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias.
  • Provide airway management and oxygen therapy.
  • Manage medical, traumatic, pediatric, and obstetric emergencies.
  • Conduct patient reassessment and monitor response to treatment.

Emergency Response Operations

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
  • Provide effective pre-hospital care and patient stabilization.
  • Work collaboratively with other emergency responders and healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure safe patient transportation and proper handover to receiving medical facilities.
  • Participate in disaster management and mass casualty incidents when required.

Clinical Documentation

  • Complete accurate patient care reports and electronic documentation.
  • Record assessments, medications, procedures, and patient outcomes.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.

Equipment and Ambulance Readiness

  • Conduct daily checks of ambulances and medical equipment.
  • Ensure all supplies and medications are adequately stocked.
  • Report defective equipment and maintain operational readiness.

Infection Control and Safety

  • Follow infection prevention and control measures.
  • Adhere to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinical audit activities.

Professional Development

  • Maintain competency through continuous education and training.
  • Participate in mandatory drills and simulation exercises.
  • Maintain all professional licenses and certifications.

Minimum QualificationsEducationOption 1

Certificate or Diploma in:

  • Paramedicine
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Emergency and Medical Care
  • Emergency and Trauma Care Technology
  • Trauma Care
  • Advanced Assessment of Trauma

Minimum duration: 2 academic years or 1,500 hours

OROption 2

Bachelor Degree in Nursing

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Trauma Certificate (PHTLS or ITLS)

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year post-qualification experience as a Paramedic.

Note

Applicants holding a nursing degree must have at least one year of practical experience as a Paramedic after graduation.

License

  • Must hold a valid professional license as a Paramedic during the period of experience claimed.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Good Standing Certificate.
  • Full-time regular attendance in educational programs (No online studies).
  • Good command of English language.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform emergency medical duties.
