About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Specialist Ophthalmologist to join our healthcare team in Sharjah. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care while maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic consultations, examinations, and assessments.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting the eye and visual system.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient requirements.
• Perform appropriate ophthalmic procedures and minor surgical interventions within the approved scope of practice.
• Manage common conditions including cataract, glaucoma, dry eye, conjunctivitis, refractive errors, diabetic eye disease, retinal disorders, and other ocular conditions.
• Perform and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations such as visual acuity testing, tonometry, slit-lamp examination, fundoscopy, OCT, visual fields, and other ophthalmic investigations.
• Identify cases requiring advanced surgical or specialist intervention and provide appropriate referrals.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative assessment and follow-up where applicable.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date patient medical records.
• Educate patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication compliance, eye care, and preventive measures.
• Work collaboratively with optometrists, nurses, other specialists, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, infection-control standards, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies.

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS/MBChB or equivalent).
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g., MS, MD, DO, FRCS, MRCOphth, or equivalent).
• Valid Specialist license/eligibility from the relevant UAE health authority, preferably DHA/DOH/MOHAP as applicable.
• Relevant clinical experience as a Specialist Ophthalmologist.
• Strong diagnostic, clinical, and patient-management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
