Duties & Responsibilities – School Librarian

Library Management & Operations

• Organize, manage, and maintain the school library in an orderly and accessible manner.
• Classify, catalogue, and issue library resources (books, journals, digital resources).
• Maintain accurate library records, inventories, and accession registers.
• Ensure proper shelving, labeling, and upkeep of library materials.
• Maintain a safe, quiet, and welcoming reading environment.

Academic Support & Student Engagement

• Support teaching and learning by providing age-appropriate resources aligned with the curriculum.
• Guide students in selecting books and developing reading, research, and information-literacy skills.
• Conduct library periods, reading sessions, and orientation for students.
• Encourage reading culture through book clubs, reading challenges, and literacy events.

Coordination with Teachers & Management

• Work closely with teachers to support lesson requirements and projects.
• Assist in sourcing reference materials for classroom and project work.
• Coordinate library schedules and student access during school hours.
• Support school events, exhibitions, and academic activities when required.

Digital & Information Literacy

• Manage digital library resources and online research tools where applicable.
• Guide students on responsible use of information and digital resources.
• Support basic research skills and referencing appropriate to grade levels.

Policies, Discipline & Safety

• Enforce library rules, discipline, and responsible use of resources.
• Educate students on care and handling of library materials.
• Monitor students during library periods to ensure proper conduct.

Stock Development & Budgeting

• Identify needs for new books and resources based on curriculum and student interests.
• Recommend purchases and assist in annual library planning.
• Track damaged, lost, or outdated resources and take appropriate action.

Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare library reports, usage records, and reading statistics.
• Support MOE inspections and audits by maintaining updated records.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and Sharjah/MOE education guidelines.

Professional Conduct

• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Represent the school professionally at all times.
• Stay updated with library practices and educational trends.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to AED4,000.00 per month
