Role Overview

As Laboratory Technologist you will be responsible for performing accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory analyses and procedures in accordance with established laboratory policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines. The role ensures the integrity of specimens, the accuracy of results, and the maintenance of a safe and compliant laboratory environment.

This position plays a key role in supporting Smart Salem’s mission to provide high-quality, efficient, and client-cantered diagnostic services across medical fitness, wellness, and health screening operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation of laboratory quality assurance and continuous improvement programs.
• Support compliance with accreditation standards and Smart Salem’s internal quality framework.

Promote excellence, safety, and customer-focused service in all laboratory practices.

• Follow patient identification and consent verification procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and collect venous blood samples using correct antiseptic and anticoagulant techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic skin anatomy and venous structures to ensure safe and accurate collection.
• Receive, label, and track specimens according to laboratory policy.
• Segregate and prepare specimens for analysis and ensure proper storage after testing.
• Arrange transportation of samples requiring referral to external laboratories.
• Perform laboratory tests and analyses in accordance with approved SOPs and quality standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
• Prepare and manage calibrators, controls, reagents, and slides for microscopic analysis.
• Recognize abnormal or critical results and follow established reporting protocols.
• Interpret and validate test results prior to release to ensure clinical accuracy.

Technical & Professional Requirements

• • Advanced knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and instruments.
  • Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • Strong understanding of biosafety, infection control, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Ability to recognize abnormal or critical results and apply escalation protocols.
  • Experience with calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory analysers.

  Knowledge of reagent preparation, chemical handling, and waste disposal processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology or equivalent. (mandatory)

Valid DHA license or eligibility as Laboratory Technologist. (mandatory)
