We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Insurance Coder to join our healthcare team.

Job Summary

The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with UAE healthcare regulations (DHA/DOH/MOH) and payer requirements, ensuring optimal reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
  • Ensure coding complies with DHA , Shafafiya standards, payer-specific guidelines, and UAE IR-DRG requirements where applicable
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
  • Conduct pre-billing audits to minimize claim denials and rejections
  • Perform insurance eligibility checks and verify patient coverage prior to service/claim submission
  • Submit Pre authorization electronically via DHPO (Dubai Health Insurance Corporation Claims Portal) and monitor submission status
  • Track and resolve DHPO rejections, resubmissions, and technical/coding-related errors
  • Support prior-authorization workflows with accurate code-level input
  • Stay current with coding updates, payer circulars, and DHA/national coding guidelines
  • Maintain coding accuracy benchmarks (typically 95%+) and documentation quality standards
  • Participate in denial management by identifying coding-related denial trends and root causes
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per UAE data protection and HIPAA-equivalent standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Life Sciences, or related field
  • Active certification: CPC (AAPC), CCS (AHIMA), or equivalent — DHA-recognized certification preferred
  • 2–5 years of medical coding experience, preferably in UAE/GCC healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DHA/DOH coding guidelines
  • Mandatory hands -on experience with DHPO claims submission and eligibility verification is required

Skills

  • Attention to detail and analytical accuracy
  • Familiarity with EMR/HIS systems and DHPO portal (mandatory)
  • Understanding of UAE insurance/payer landscape (Daman, NAS, Al Madallah, Nextcare etc.)
  • Strong communication skills for physician query resolution.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: Up to AED4,000.00 per month
