THE TEAM
The Technical and Professional Activities (TPA) team is the driving force behind SPE's technical content, professional development initiatives, and industry knowledge exchange. Working closely with volunteer subject matter experts and staff worldwide, the team transforms technical expertise into high-impact programs, publications, certifications, standards, and frameworks that advance the energy industry and create value for members.

Through initiatives such as SPE Certification, Technical Sections, training courses, and knowledge-sharing programs, TPA promotes lifelong learning, technical competency, and industry best practices. These efforts help ensure SPE remains a trusted global source of technical expertise while strengthening member engagement, expanding industry impact, and supporting sustainable organizational growth.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is responsible for supporting technical and professional activities (TPA) as well as programs that support faculty, membership, and other industry organizations.
To be considered for this role, you bring at least three (3) years of administrative experience with strong Microsoft Office skills, along with solid organizational and multi-tasking capacity. This position supports committees and their programs across the globe so flexibility with time zones and culture is an important facet of this position. In this role, you must be a strong communicator with internal staff and external members/volunteers.

As a solid multi-tasker, you thrive on constant change, while also being super detailed. This includes tracking and updating data to maintain organization of information.

If you are seeking a good work/life balance, you will have the ability to work a hybrid model with some work in the office and the balance can be done remotely. You will also have the flexibility to choose a schedule that allows you to have long weekends with every other Friday off (upon completion of probationary period). THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE IN THIS ROLE
  • Assist with task management and administrative activities supporting advisory and technical committees.
  • Schedule and coordinate regular committee meetings; record, organize, and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Serve as a resource for internal SPE staff seeking information related to Technical and Professional Activities.
  • Coordinate the onboarding of new volunteers, including related logistics
  • Maintain committee rosters within SPE's Association Management System (AMS).
  • Support initiatives to increase adoption of the SPE Certification Program and assist in planning and coordinating Certification Exam Review Training Courses.
  • Communicate the status and progress of monthly and quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, as needed.
  • Provide routine administrative and clerical support. Perform accurate data entry and support data management projects.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

  • Associate degree and a minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint, with the ability to use these tools effectively to support business needs.

  • Strong technical aptitude with an understanding of data management practices, data processing methodologies, and data quality standards; experience with an Association Management System is a bonus!

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and present data and reporting insights that help track performance and support informed decision-making.

  • Effective communicator who can build positive working relationships and engage with both internal and external stakeholders across a variety of communication channels.

  • Collaborative team player who values open communication, knowledge sharing, and working with diverse groups to achieve common goals.

  • Experience working with associations, membership-based organizations, and/or committees is a plus!

  • Work Schedule: Standard working hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a one-hour lunch break and shorter hours on Friday. There may be some flexibility based on employee needs while considering the business need to work outside regular business hours to support meetings and collaboration across global time zones.
