About the role

At International SOS, we protect and save lives by helping organizations manage health, safety, security, and wellbeing risks wherever they operate. Our global network of medical professionals, assistance centres, and providers delivers world-class medical and travel assistance services to clients worldwide.
We are currently seeking an experienced Coordinating Doctor to join our Dubai Assistance Centre, providing expert medical oversight and case management support for patients and organizations across the Middle East.

As a Coordinating Doctor, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality medical assistance services, ensuring patients receive appropriate care while supporting complex medical cases, referrals, evacuations, repatriations, and medical transportation arrangements.

Working in a dynamic and fast-paced 24/7 Assistance Centre environment, you will collaborate closely with Coordinating Nurses, Operations Coordinators, Medical Directors, healthcare providers, insurers, clients, and patients around the world.

Key responsibilities

Medical Case Management

  • Provide medical oversight and direction for assistance cases managed by the Assistance Centre.
  • Review medical information and assess patient condition, treatment plans, and clinical appropriateness.
  • Advise on patient management, hospitalization planning, and ongoing care requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with treating physicians, patients, family members, clients, and insurers.
  • Ensure effective handover of active cases between shifts.

Medical Assistance Services

  • Conduct telephone-based medical assessments and consultations.
  • Provide medical advice and support to clients, patients, employers, and insurance partners.
  • Coordinate referrals, specialist consultations, and inpatient care arrangements.
  • Monitor patient progress and clinical outcomes.

Medical Transportation & Repatriation

  • Assess the need for medical evacuations and repatriations.
  • Determine the most suitable mode of transport, including commercial flights, stretcher transfers, air ambulances, and medical escorts.
  • Liaise with airline medical departments regarding fitness-to-fly assessments and clearance requirements.
  • Act as a medical escort when required.

Medical Liaison & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed medical reports and case summaries.
  • Communicate recommendations clearly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with client medical teams, insurers, and healthcare providers to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.

Network & Operational Support

  • Support the identification and assessment of medical providers and facilities across the region.
  • Participate in medical facility reviews and site surveys when required.
  • Contribute to service improvements, clinical governance initiatives, and operational excellence projects

Essential Requirements

  • Medical Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience in:
    • Emergency Medicine
    • Intensive Care
    • Acute Medicine
    • General Practice
    • Or a related acute care specialty.
  • Valid ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in telemedicine, medical assistance, emergency response, travel medicine, or insurance-related medical case management.
  • Exposure to aeromedical transport, evacuations, or repatriations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems across the Middle East.
  • Additional language skills are advantageous.

Working Pattern

  • Shift-based role, including day, night, weekend, and public holiday coverage as part of a 24/7 Assistance Centre operation.
  • Occasional travel may be required for medical escort assignments, operational support, or business continuity needs.
