Position: Pharmacist

Job Purpose

The Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, prescription verification, patient counselling, insurance processing, inventory management, and overall pharmacy operations, while ensuring full compliance with DOH regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and accurately dispense medications against valid prescriptions.
• Verify prescriptions for appropriate medication, dosage, frequency, duration, interactions, contraindications, and patient safety.
• Provide professional patient counselling regarding medication usage, dosage, possible side effects, storage, and precautions.
• Process prescriptions through insurance systems and coordinate insurance approvals and rejected claims when required.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, pharmacy standards, and applicable UAE healthcare requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled medicines, insurance transactions, and other required documentation.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure timely ordering and replenishment of medicines and healthcare products.
• Check medication expiry dates, batch numbers, storage conditions, and stock rotation regularly.
• Ensure medicines requiring specific temperature conditions are stored and monitored appropriately.
• Maintain proper documentation and handling of controlled and semi-controlled medications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, insurance teams, suppliers, and patients regarding prescriptions and medication availability.
• Support achievement of the pharmacy's sales and revenue targets while maintaining ethical pharmacy practices and patient safety.
• Minimize stock expiry, wastage, shortages, and inventory discrepancies.
• Participate in regular stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and compliant pharmacy environment.
• Handle patient queries and complaints professionally and provide excellent customer service.
• Keep updated on new medications, healthcare products, regulatory requirements, and pharmacy practices.
• Perform other pharmacy-related responsibilities assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or management.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) / PharmD or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Valid DOH Pharmacist Licence or DOH Eligibility – Mandatory.
• Previous experience in a retail, hospital, clinic, or medical centre pharmacy is preferred.
• Good knowledge of medications, prescriptions, drug interactions, dosage, and patient counselling.
• Knowledge of UAE health insurance and pharmacy approval processes is an advantage.
• Familiarity with pharmacy inventory and POS/ERP systems.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Good command of English;
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and patient-safety awareness.
• Ability to work flexible shifts based on pharmacy operational requirements.
