Job Title : Backup/Storage Administrator-L2

Job Location : Dubai

Salary : 13000 AED

Job Purpose:

The job holder will be primarily responsible for the day to day administration of EMC,HP,IBM storage technologies

& Networker, Veeam ,Commvault, NetBackup & other Backup technologies .Required to make necessary architectural

design changes and improvements to backup & storage infrastructure and its support its subsystems.

Qualifications and Education:

The jobholder should have bachelor degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent professional

qualification in related engineering discipline with at least 5 years of total experience in similar fields.

Experience:

• At least 5 years plus of expert level experience and similar job role in managing and maintaining storage and backup
• Infrastructure supporting critical business applications and servers.
• 5 years plus hands on experiencing in managing EMC, HP, IBM storage SAN systems (VxRail appliance)
• Hardware maintenance of Storage arrays & software Upgrades.

Knowledge:

• Must Possess knowledge on maintenance of Backup Technologies – Networker, Data Domain, Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup & Tape Libraries.
• Must Possess knowledge on maintenance of DELL EMC Unity, HP MSA, HP 3PAR, DELL Data Domain, IBM SAN Storage system appliances & SAN Switches.
• Must Possess knowledge on maintenance of DELL PowerEdge Physical servers.

Job Accountabilities and Current Objectives:

1. Storage Management (L2):

• Administration of SAN FC switches as well as blade chassis FC devices.
• Manage FC zoning for all storage volumes.
• Manage storage snapshots as well as recovery methods for storage volumes.
• Execute across-site replication of DR data.
• Supervise volume replication overnight jobs and execute improvements.
• Oversee IO performance of production along with development of databases LUNs.
• Provide architecture as well as performance recommendations to DBAs and Operations.
• Conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues.
• Develop and maintain records for entire storage as well as FC systems.
• Continuous collaboration with DBA as well as Operations to assure optimal
• storage usage.

2. Backup management (L2):

• Maintenance & Resolving Daily backup failures on Backup Appliances.
• Maintenance for Tape library & fire resistance safe
• Support annual DR testing.
• Updating of Platform DR Runbook based on change requests and ensure maintain the agreed-on RTO/RPO.
• Incidents that cannot be resolved remotely and require physical
• troubleshooting/interference
• Supervising vendor hardware replacements
• Changing backup tapes once per month
• License Utilization Recommendations

3. Responsibilities (L2):

• Ensure system scalability and performance for storage and backup environments through proactive capacity planning, performance control and configuration adjustment.
• Analyze and report on system performance.
• Optimize data backup and storage systems.
• Implement security policies and procedures for storing and safeguarding data.
• Ensure maintenance and crucial upgrade data storage and backup hardware and software.
• Maintain documentation of configuration, operation and troubleshooting procedures, and service records for data storage and backup hardware and software.
• Ensure troubleshooting in the event of errors and backup problems. Resolve and analyze the root causes.
• Proactively notify of failed backup work so that errors can be corrected quickly.
• Communicate with hardware and software representatives, as well as other internal teams, to diagnose and resolve errors with root causes;
• Respond to user requests and service requests.

Communication and stakeholders Management:

The jobholder will meet and work with all sections and departments with external stake holders. He will be

reporting to Team Leader daily basis on issues, business/operational needs and incident management.

Operating Environment 24/7 production Operations:

The job holder will work in standard office hours and should be available on a 24x7x365 basis, to intervene in

emergencies or when situation demands. The job holder will work in a controlled environment.
