Ophthalmologist – Nauru Medical Centre

Nauru Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive eye care services to the people of Nauru. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist who is passionate about improving vision health and delivering high-quality patient care in a unique island healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions and diseases.
• Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries within the scope of practice.
• Prescribe appropriate treatments, medications, and corrective lenses.
• Manage emergency and routine ophthalmology cases.
• Provide patient education on eye health and disease prevention.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education programs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Fellowship or specialist qualification in Ophthalmology.
• Current specialist registration/licensure in home country.
• Minimum of 3 years' post-specialization experience preferred.
• Experience in general ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery.
• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a resource-conscious environment.
