The General Practitioner will serve as the primary point of contact for patients visiting the medical center, delivering comprehensive, patient-centered primary care. The role focuses on diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, managing chronic conditions, implementing preventive health screenings, and coordinating care pathways through appropriate specialist referrals. The GP must strictly adhere to local health authority regulations SHA and standard insurance workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Excellence & Patient Care

  • Provide outpatient medical consultations, physical examinations, and health assessments for patients of all age groups (pediatric to geriatric).
  • Diagnose and treat common acute ailments, infections, minor injuries, and medical emergencies.
  • Manage chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma) in alignment with UAE national screening and treatment guidelines.
  • Perform basic outpatient clinical procedures such as superficial wound suturing, dressing, incising minor abscesses, and administering vaccinations.
  • Recognize clinical limitations and "red flag" symptoms, executing timely referrals to specialized clinical departments or tertiary hospitals.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain precise, timely, and secure Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for all patient encounters, ensuring strict compliance with local data protection laws.
  • Issue e-prescriptions using mandated systems following established national formularies.
  • Ensure full adherence to policies and quality standards set by the relevant health authorities Sharjah Health Authority.
  • Complete mandatory Continuous Medical Education (CME) hours required for annual professional license renewal.

3. Insurance Coordination & Administration

  • Collaborate efficiently with the internal insurance coordination team to facilitate medical authorization workflows.
  • Provide detailed clinical justification, documentation, and proper coding (ICD-10/CPT) to support insurance pre-authorization requests for diagnostic tests, imaging, and specialist referrals.
  • Minimize claim rejections by ensuring all diagnostic orders are medically necessary and thoroughly documented.

4. Preventive Health & Community Wellness

  • Promote preventive medicine by advising patients on diet, lifestyle, immunization, and age-specific health screenings.
  • Participate in medical center wellness campaigns, corporate health checks, and community health education initiatives.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent primary medical degree from a recognized institution listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Licensure:
  • A valid, active license or an Eligibility Letter to practice as a General Practitioner from SHA.
  • A valid Good Standing Certificate (GSC) from the most recent licensing authority.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of post-internship clinical experience in a general practice, family medicine, or outpatient medical center setting UAE.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in utilizing healthcare information systems, EMR software, and e-prescription modules.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Core Competencies: Strong clinical judgment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity to a diverse patient demographic, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.
