Full job description

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:
To manage negotiations on various legal and key strategic matters across flydubai’s operations, particularly in the finance and commercial portfolio, overseeing primary responsibilities for negotiating and drafting a diverse range of aircraft financing and related arrangements, as along with select commercial contracts, while also providing legal advice, mitigating risks, and collaborating with senior management to set priorities for the finance and commercial portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Negotiates and documents medium to high value transactions including, inter alia, financing, and related documents for aircraft acquisition or refinancing as well as loan and similar financing arrangements.
  • Negotiates maintenance and related agreements as well as fuel and other commodity agreements.
  • Supports the broader commercial team in a variety of contract negotiations.
  • Advises on terms, liabilities and risks of proposed transactions and formulates creative and practical legal solutions to meet the commercial realities.
  • Evaluates and proposes the company’s stance on pertinent legal issues and risks.
  • Prioritizes matters and collaborate with team members to accommodate commercial requirements.
  • Establishes strong relationships with external counsel as well as internal clients of diverse backgrounds, understanding their business requirements.
  • Identifies, advises, implements, and develops general and specialist legal strategy together with the Senior Management.
  • Identifies organizational needs and initiate and complete projects to address the same.
  • Facilitates, develops, and conducts legal training seminars for internal clients to help raise awareness with respect to legal matters.
  • Supervises junior team members and assists in their professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree (3+ years)
  • Law / Legal Studies
  • Admitted to practice (preferably in a common law jurisdiction)
  • Qualification certificate. Practicing certificate or equivalent
  • Fluent in English
  • Years with qualifications: 4 - 6 years
  • Experience in asset financing, banking or commercial contracts.
  • Experience in aviation (including aviation finance) is preferred
  • Previous in-house legal experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience in the GCC beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong commercial nderstanding and ability to work cross functionally in different legal areas as and when required
  • Excellent PC skills and proficient in use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent English language drafting skills.

ISR Requirements:
Reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in the day-to-day business operations.
