Description

To provide comprehensive primary medical services to patients registered with Kanad Hospital, temporary residents, and individuals requiring immediate medical attention. This includes conducting clinical assessments, establishing diagnoses, providing appropriate treatment, and making referrals when necessary.
To embrace and actively promote Kanad Hospital’s mission and values by delivering patient-centered care, empowering patients in their healthcare journey, and supporting an efficient and effective skill mix.
To support the achievement of Kanad Hospital’s strategic objectives through collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and all hospital departments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
To lead by example, inspiring colleagues through the demonstration of Kanad Hospital’s values and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating primary care services to ensure they meet the evolving needs of patients and the community

Essential Job Functions and Key Accountabilities
1.To be personally accountable for professional and ethical actions and practices within a legal and ethical framework that adheres to Kanad Hospital's requirements in conjunction with DOH and JCI guidelines and standards.
2. To maintain confidentiality, while communicating patient information, in such a way that preserves the dignity and privacy of the patient and the patient’s family and carers.
3. To work in a non-judgmental anti-discriminatory way, with regard to the cultural and religious beliefs of individuals and groups.
4. To ensure that prior to any course of action involving individuals/groups, their informed consent or other valid authority has been obtained.
5. To promote and maintain optimum health of the patient population of Kanad Hospital by identifying, planning and undertaking specific health promotional activities with identified individuals and target groups in order to improve their health and facilitate further service development.
6. To establish, develop and maintain appropriate systems for the management of patients with long-term conditions.
7. To ensure that record-keeping and patient documentation are managed through the creation and maintenance of concise, contemporaneous computerized records and that all care is recorded accurately and in a timely fashion.
8. To interpret and explain complex facts in relation to a patient’s condition, taking appropriate action and giving advice in a professional manner to team members, and when appropriate to family and other carers, in such a way that protects and preserves the patient’s dignity.
9. To be responsible for appropriate referrals, ongoing support for the patient, family/carer and the co-ordination of other services.
10. To provide additional services and enhanced services within the post holder’s clinical competence.
11. To maintain clinical competence and exercise awareness of professional responsibilities by reading current relevant literature and by taking opportunities for personal and professional development in accordance with the requirements of DOH and the recommendations of Kanad Hospital.
12. To use evidence-based practice to develop and maintain high quality clinically effective and cost-effective primary care.
13. To assess and diagnose across a wide range of primary health care conditions, order investigations, plan and provide treatment as needed and consult the appropriate specialist or consultant in case admission is needed and observe patients in the urgent care.
14. To assess, tolerate and manage risk and deal with uncertainty.
15. To prescribe in accordance with regulations and with the post holder’s training and registration.
16. To undertake screening procedures.
17. To provide telephone consultations as required.
18. To demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision-making.
19. To ensure the accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with health care and practice administration according to ICD and E/M guidelines.
20. To collaborate with other health professionals and agencies as appropriate, liaising and communicating effectively with medical, voluntary and statutory agencies as necessary.
21. To be able to work with people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, and people with disabilities and learning difficulties, and to be able to communicate with them (and, when necessary, their careers) appropriately to facilitate their care and understanding of their care within the service
22. To manage one’s own clinical responsibilities and to act as source of information to other clinical staff.
23. To record in the medical record why investigations are being undertaken. To analyze the results and record in the medical record the actions required.
24. To liaise effectively with all other disciplines and to forge effective links with primary and secondary care to ensure effective communication.
25. To undertake professional development and participate in Kanad Hospital’s CME program.
26. To attend department and other scheduled meetings.


Qualification

Degree: Medical doctor degree
Experience: Minimum 2 years' recent experience post qualification in a hospital setting in OB/maternity experience preferred; ACLS experience essential
License: Must be DOH/DHA licensed or DOH passer or DOH exam exempted
Shifts: The position 8, 10, and 12 hours, wherein 12-hour shifts are the most common. The shift timings are usually 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM and 07:00 PM to 07:00 AM.
