Job Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides essential pre-hospital emergency care and patient transportation services to individuals experiencing medical emergencies, trauma, or illness. The EMT is responsible for patient assessment, stabilization, basic life support interventions, and ensuring safe and effective transfer of patients to appropriate healthcare facilities while adhering to established clinical protocols and professional standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment and Care

  • Perform initial patient assessment and determine the severity of illness or injury.
  • Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) interventions and emergency care.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and assist with airway management.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
  • Control bleeding and manage trauma patients.
  • Assist in immobilization and patient packaging for transport.
  • Monitor vital signs and document patient conditions.
  • Reassess patients and report changes in status.

Emergency Response Operations

  • Respond rapidly and safely to emergency calls.
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency care according to approved protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with paramedics, physicians, nurses, firefighters, and other emergency responders.
  • Ensure safe transportation and transfer of patients.
  • Participate in disaster response and mass casualty incidents.

Clinical Documentation

  • Complete patient care reports accurately and promptly.
  • Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations.

Equipment and Ambulance Readiness

  • Conduct daily checks of ambulance vehicles and medical equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and medications are available.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of emergency vehicles.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Infection Prevention and Safety

  • Follow infection prevention and control standards.
  • Use personal protective equipment appropriately.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance and safety initiatives.

Professional Development

  • Attend mandatory training programs and drills.
  • Maintain required certifications and licenses.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain competency.

Minimum QualificationsEducationOption 1

Academic Qualification in:

  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

AND

  • BLS Certification
  • Trauma Certificate (PHTLS or ITLS)

OROption 2

Academic Qualification as:

  • Assistant Nurse

OR

  • Registered Nurse

AND

  • BLS Certification
  • Trauma Certificate (PHTLS or ITLS)

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year post-qualification experience in a related field.

Acceptable areas of experience include:

  • Pre-Hospital Emergency Care
  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Note

Applicants with nursing qualifications must possess at least one year of experience in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or Critical Care Unit for acceptance under the EMT category.

License

  • Must possess a valid professional license as an EMT or Nurse during the period of experience claimed.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Good Standing Certificate.
  • Full-time regular attendance in educational programs (No online studies).
  • Good command of English language.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform emergency medical duties.

Salary
