L1 Network & Cyber Security Operations Engineer

Total Technology | Dubai

Salary: AED 4,000–5,000 per month
Location: Dubai — on-site
Initial working hours: Monday to Friday, 10am–7pm Dubai time
Shift requirement: Flexibility to work rotational shifts as part of our 24/7 operations

About Total Technology

Total Technology delivers managed IT support, networking, cybersecurity, cloud services, software, and hardware solutions to businesses in the UK and UAE. Our work includes supporting commercial buildings and smart building networks, alongside Microsoft 365, Azure, and business IT environments.

We are looking for an L1 Network & Cyber Security Operations Engineer to join our global team in Dubai. The role combines network operations and cybersecurity in equal measure, with senior escalation support and mentoring provided by our UK engineers.

About the Role

You will monitor client environments, investigate alerts, and take appropriate action to keep systems available and secure. Working within approved procedures, you will attempt resolution, escalate when needed, and maintain clear ownership and communication throughout each incident.

You will use Auvik for network monitoring, alongside Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, Huntress SIEM, Heimdal, Cisco Umbrella, and Datto RMM.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor client networks through Auvik, investigating availability, performance, connectivity, and device health alerts.
  • Support networks serving business IT environments, commercial buildings, and smart building systems.
  • Review and investigate security alerts across endpoint, cloud, SIEM, and web security platforms.
  • Assess incidents, establish their impact and urgency, and prioritise action against agreed service levels.
  • Troubleshoot network and security issues, following approved actions and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform authorised actions such as blocking malicious senders, releasing quarantined emails following safety checks, and isolating endpoints.
  • Carry out approved network changes, including authenticating and authorising devices for network access.
  • Use Datto RMM to investigate device health and carry out approved remote support actions.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved incidents to UK senior engineers with clear findings, supporting evidence, and details of actions already taken.
  • Keep clients and colleagues informed, maintaining accurate tickets, network documentation, and shift handovers.
  • Follow assigned incidents through to resolution, coordinating with other teams where required.
  • Contribute to improvements in monitoring, documentation, and operating procedures.

What You’ll Bring

  • Around 1–2 years of relevant experience in network support, cybersecurity, a NOC/SOC, or a managed IT services environment.
  • A practical understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networking.
  • Basic knowledge of common cyber threats, endpoint protection, email security, and log analysis.
  • A logical approach to troubleshooting and the judgement to recognise when to escalate.
  • Strong written and verbal English for client updates, incident records, and collaboration with UK colleagues.
  • Attention to detail, ownership of assigned work, and the ability to prioritise competing alerts.
  • Willingness to learn and work rotational shifts supporting 24/7 operations.

Experience with Auvik or any of our security and management platforms would be an advantage. You do not need experience with every tool, but you should bring solid technical foundations and a willingness to develop across both networking and cybersecurity.

Relevant qualifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft security certifications are desirable.

Development and Progression

You will receive training, access to funded certifications, and mentoring from experienced UK engineers. This role offers opportunities to develop towards Network Administrator, Network Engineer, or cybersecurity roles within our global team.

Working Hours

The initial shift will be 10am–7pm Dubai time, Monday to Friday. The role forms part of our 24/7 operations, so flexibility to work rotational shifts, including nights and weekends, is required.
