Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Neurosurgeon for a locum assignment at Naoero Medical Centre. This is a unique opportunity to provide specialist neurosurgical consultations, surgical services, clinical leadership, and mentorship to local healthcare professionals while making a meaningful impact in a developing island healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with neurosurgical conditions.
- Perform neurosurgical procedures as clinically indicated and within available resources.
- Provide inpatient, outpatient, and emergency neurosurgical consultations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
- Support the development of local clinical capabilities through education and mentoring.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to international patient safety standards.
- Collaborate with hospital management and medical teams to strengthen neurosurgical services.
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completion of accredited Neurosurgery training.
- Board Certification / Specialist Registration in Neurosurgery.
- Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience preferred.
- Experience working in remote, island, or resource-limited settings is an advantage.
- Excellent clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Eligibility for medical registration in the Republic of Nauru.
