The RNA Modifications, Intellect, and NeuroDegeneration (RNA-MIND) Laboratory at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to join our laboratory to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms in neuronal cells that can be potentially targeted to prevent, alleviate, and promote recovery from ischemic stroke.
The successful candidate will work with human cell lines, primary cultured neurons, and rodent models to investigate the cellular operational mechanisms of RNA modification in regulating gene expression in the context of neuroinflammation. Training background in biophysics and experience with liquid-liquid phase separation, RNA-protein interaction, RNA modification, and cell biology is highly desirable. We look for highly motivated individuals with strong commitment to neuroscience and biomedical research.
Techniques such as live-cell fluorescence imaging, flow cytometry, Ribo-seq, neural dynamics imaging are strongly valued. Strong grounding in molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning and RNA analysis are expected. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment that includes collaboration with fellow post-doctoral associates, senior and junior scientists, and undergraduate students. They will also benefit from the support of established Core Bioinformatics and Sequencing Platforms and High-Performance Computing facilities. Trainings for motivated individuals to transit into independent positions will be provided.
Applicants for the Associate Research Scientist position must hold a PhD degree or equivalent terminal degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience in the phase separation, and RNA granule biology fields (not including the years obtaining the PhD or equivalent terminal degree). Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential for working in a highly collaborative environment.
